It has definitely been one of “THOSE” weeks this week and I am very glad it is Friday! It culminated in my going out to my Jeep today to run some errands and the battery is flat!!! I suppose I can’t complain as it is at least five year’s old but it is so annoying, especially when you have your whole day planned and it goes out of the window.
I got all my house jobs done and caught up on my work work too but I can go out tomorrow and sort things out, although Saturdays are usually very busy, especially now as it is definitely building up to people Christmas shopping!!!
This is Hassop Hall where DH is going on Sunday for his second Birthday Lunch!!! Very similar to Callow Hall. Looking forward to a lovely lazy day again. We also have to go and visit the Boys Godmother as it is her birthday on Monday but I do love these social days.
Sunday is Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night when effigies of Guy Fawkes are burnt on bonfires and fireworks are let off. For anyone who does not know the history Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the King, James I (James VI of Scotland) and the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday November 5th 1605, so that they could then put a catholic king on the throne. The plot was discovered in time and Guy Fawkes and his four other close conspirators were arrested and subsequently found guilty and put to death in the most gruesome way. The nursery rhyme below is always said on this night;
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
We see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes, guy, t’was his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England’s overthrow.
By god’s mercy he was catch’d
With a darkened lantern and burning match.
So, holler boys, holler boys, Let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the king.
And what shall we do with him?
Burn him!
You can see where Game of Thrones got some of its ideas!!!!
Anyway have a Wonderful Autumn Weekend.
Hugs, Susie xx
Car problems are always awful! Have a lovely social weekend and get to the shops early so you won’t have to battle the masses!!
Bummer about your battery, Miss Susie. I hope it’s been fixed!
