Throwback Thursday!

London Eye - all the Boys 251005

Back to 2005, Eldest 9, Youngest 5 and DH ? !!! We went to London for the Half Term holiday, as you can see it was cold!

IMG_1277Baby Treacle who, as you can see, has always loved a ball to play with!

IMG_20150129_122204Snowing again here.  This lot came down within 3 minutes and has got considerably thicker since then!!!!  I am sure it won’t last for long but Treacle is making the most of it whilst it is here!!!!!

Swimming tonight and I have to drop Youngest off and then I am coming home to get on with the quilt.  DH is due to pick up later especially if it carries on snowing!

The Wednesday Wag.

DSC04377“JOE FOX : Brinkley is my dog. He loves the streets of New York as much as I do — although he likes to eat bits of pizza and bagel off the sidewalk, and I prefer to buy them. Brinkley is a great catcher and was offered a tryout on the Mets farm team — but he chose to stay with me so that he could spend 18 hours a day sleeping on a large green pillow the size of an inner tube!”

You know that “You’ve Got Mail” is one of my favourite films and I just love the above quote as it fits Treacle to a tea!  Although she would have been offered the job of Ball Girl at Wimbledon!!  This has been her most favourite position over the last few days as it is very cold here again.  Going out is not top of her list of things to do at the moment!  She has even abandoned The Wednesday Wag!  Good job I have been working today and have filled in for her.  She will hopefully be back next week!  Hugs, Susie (Mom)

The First of the Blocks Done!

DSC04372I have completed the first twenty five blocks for Youngest’s quilt and they have turned out well.  I think I am going to make these into rows first and then make the next twenty five.

DSC04373Love the red and black together

DSC04374Love this camper van he has a lovely happy face

DSC04375 DSC04376Can’t wait to put this together.

Hopefully I will get some more done tomorrow although I am on swimming duty tomorrow night between 8.00pm and 9.00pm which really cuts into the evening!

No snow here yet but Treacle is behaving like it is and has not moved from her basket all day.  We have re-christened her “Snuggle Treacle”!!!!!!

Hope you are having a terrific Tuesday.

Catch and kill: The baby bears are transfixed by their mother's hands-on approach to finding their lunch at Kuril Lake in Russia

Saw this in the paper, the baby bears are transfixed watching Mom fish!!  I just love their expressions, I think they are saying

“You mean we have to get in the cold water to catch dinner?”

Monday!

DSC04349Youngest spent the weekend either swimming or coaching at swimming and then Sunday morning he went out with another of the swimmers on a two hour bike ride around a local trail!  Needless to say by Sunday evening he was shattered and so was DH, who had been transporting him all weekend.

Treacle and I stayed home, her in her basket and me doing some quilting!  No don’t faint, I did some quilting!!!! I spent Saturday cutting out and Sunday sewing.

DSC04365 DSC04366Here are the blocks.  This is for Youngest’s quilt and he is very much into camper vans and would love to own one when he is older.

DSC04367DSC04368More of the blocks.

DSC04369This one is my favourite.

DSC04370 DSC04371Just busy now making half square triangles before fitting them together.  I think it will look really fun when it is all together.

Eldest and Girlfriend came for dinner on Saturday night and it was great to see them both.  After dinner we were playing a “TV” game and the Girls won!!!!!  I also managed to get all my ironing done as well!  It was a really busy weekend.

I hope everyone on the East Coast of the US is staying warm and safe with all the snow and the storm predicted there.  We are due to get some more snow this week but over here it does not always happen.  One thing for sure is Treacle will be snuggled in her basket.

Hope you are having a Marvelous Monday.

Where Did the Week Go?

This was me on Tuesday!  Paperwork decided to take over the office!!!!  Also the Bank Manager was here for two and half hours!!!!!!  Everything okay just our annual review but I could have really done with the time he took up for the paperwork.

DSC04170This was Treacle all day yesterday, she couldn’t even be bothered to write her Wednesday Wag!  I was out for most of the day helping a friend to get her work organised, which is very challenging as she is not very organised at all!

Boys at Inverness LocksAs it is Thursday I thought I would show you a “Throwback Thursday” Picture of my wonderful, funny, silly, lovely Boys.  This was taken at Easter in 2006, Eldest was 10 and Youngest was 6.  I love these pictures of when they were little but it also makes me sad that they are not this size anymore!

One thing as they get older is that they don’t need you as much and when they were this age I was their World as they were mine and I do miss that.  Especially as we don’t get to see Eldest as much now, now that he is working and busy.  I know that this is what you want for your children to be wonderful, rounded human beings who are able to stand on their own two feet but for Mom’s it is the hardest thing!

I am still hoping to get my quilts cut out, the material is all sitting on my desk with the pattern but I have had no time! Tonight Youngest is swimming again for two hours and coaching for one hour (he is training to be a coach) and my ironing basket is getting full again!!!  Oh well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your Thursday and week is going well, it is almost Friday!

Swimming & Visiting & Sleeping!

Saturday saw us at The Arc Leisure Centre, Matlock for our 42nd Swimming Open where we had a hundred odd swimmers and over 1400 swims during the day!!!!!  DH was the MC for the day, I was in Event Control helping with the timing/speeding tickets and disqualifications!!!!!  Youngest was swimming.  We got there at 6.30am whilst it was still dark and very cold and set up.  Although it seemed a long day it rushed by and we had some great swims and a great atmosphere.  Youngest bettered four of his times and won two medals so really proud!  This was his first event as Club Captain too.

We got home at 7.30pm and I had cooked dinner in the slow cooker so it was ready when we got home.  Friday night DH had spent the evening setting up all the sound equipment for the Saturday, so by Sunday he and I were shattered.  Youngest was tired with all his swimming.

90th Birthday CelebrationsUncle John, whose 92 now, is in hospital with a bad chest and at 92 they take these things seriously.  Unfortunately one of his daughters is away in Australia visiting family and his other daughter lives near London so DH went to visit him on Sunday morning.  He is doing surprisingly well.  Then he had to to into Nottingham to sort some other things out.

I, needless to say did not get any quilting done over the weekend at all and yesterday I was going to start and I was so tired that I knew that if I did start anything I would probably make a mistake, so yesterday became a rest day!!!!!

Today has been busy with work and I have yet another basket of ironing to do (I think they breed over night!!!!) so I am hoping tomorrow to do some quilting.  We have to visit the Bank Manager tomorrow also for our annual review for the business, yuck!!!!

It is really cold here today, well cold for us!!! and in some areas it may go down to -15°C, it is forecast for -3°C here but Treacle has not moved out of her basket all day.

DSC04364This is how she fell asleep with her toy!

She is definitely in her snuggly warm phase at the moment!!!!!

I hope you are having a warm snuggly Monday!!!!

The Wednesday Wag

DSC04351The weather is horrible here at the moment so I am making the most of my new bed!  I really do love it.

DSC04353I didn’t even mind Mom taking my picture when I am in my basket.

I have my old baby basket in Youngest’s room where I sleep at night and it used to have an old single quilt in but Mom decided to put my other new bed in that, but as the basket is smaller than my day basket it didn’t quite fit and then with me in it, it just didn’t work, so Mom has now put my new bed on the floor, which I love, and taken my old baby basket away!  I had chewed it so it was quite broken!

DSC04354This basket I inherited from my Sis, Kelly, who passed and this is the basket which is behind Mom’s desk, so when she is working I can be snoozing!!!!

I haven’t been doing much else with the weather being so bad, still it gives me more time to sleep!

I hope you are having a woofy Wednesday.

Treacle

Tuesdayish!

We have more of this forecast for tomorrow but I don’t think it will be enough for Treacle!  I have been working all day today and tonight I have a basket of ironing and I really wanted to get on with cutting out my new projects 🙁

DSC04000One thing I have decided is to use the pattern I was asked to test out last year by Amy of Sew Incredibly Crazy (she has the pattern for sale on her website) for my super secret projects!!!  I may also use this for Youngest’s quilt which I need to get cut out too with the fabrics he chose.  One thing I do need though is more white from the quilt store as I used up my final bits on this one last year!

One benefit of the cold weather is the wonderful winter dishes you can cook for dinner.  Tonight we are having beef casserole which everyone loves.  I will post the recipe on my new page.

Hope you are having a Terrific Tuesday.

A Quilty Weekend!

The weather this weekend was stormy, lots of rain combined with high winds.  Fortunately we didn’t experience any damage in the garden or to our home but Scotland and the North of England did.  However it was the best excuse to stay in and quilt!

A job I was going to do over the Christmas break, but didn’t get around to, was sorting out my stash.  It was stored in a deep draw in the chest of draws in our bedroom and it was jammed!!!!!  DH managed to source some of the great clip boxes but our local store didn’t have them, but it didn’t stop him driving over to Nottingham to their big store where they had lots.  Now I have sorted my stash out it doesn’t seem so big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Perhaps I need a trip to the Quilt store!!!!!

DSC04357 DSC04358This was a project I began last Easter (!) but hadn’t managed to get around to finishing them.  They are scraps left over from Baby Evalyn’s quilt and I was making them into baby blocks.  I have made the blocks then quilted them and then sewing them together.  However when I  came to sew the strips into the blocks, my machine was not happy in fact I broke three needles having a go so I have now decided to hand sew them, which I think will be easier when I get to do the final one and turn them right side out!

Whilst I was sorting my stash I have picked out some other fabrics for a few secret projects I am going to do.  Will show you more later.  Love this bit of the planning and sorting stage, just need a few hours to get the cutting done.

Today has been busy with work, as most Mondays are and there is a swimming meeting tonight, oh joy!

Hope your Monday is going well.

The Best Ball Boys In The World!

Billed as the 'best ball boys in the word', the obedient dogs proved to be better than the real thing

Now you all know that I love Tennis and Dogs and Treacle is very keen on Tennis Balls.  Take a look at this article and the video in the article.  They are sooooo cute!  If it was Treacle, of course, she would be running off with the Tennis balls and you wouldn’t get them back!!!!!!!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2903794/Venus-Williams-exhibition-match-trials-canine-ball-boys.html

Venus Williams and Svetlana Kuznetova were recently treated to canine ball boys during a warm-up match

It made me smile.
