Where Did Monday Go?

Monday flew by with work, work and work!  In fact it was 6.00pm before I knew it and they were all here for dinner!!  I don’t know why some days are like that and others just go along in their merry fashion.  Today has been busy but not like yesterday.  We have noticed that things have gone a little quiet and I think it is due to people, who don’t have children in school, going away on holiday now just in case any more lockdowns happen later on in the summer.  We are all hoping that July 19th when we are supposed to be released from a lot more restrictions, including wearing face masks, is going to actually happen.

DH and I are in London next week for a couple of business meetings and also to hopefully visit the RHS Hampton Court Flower show which was a birthday present from last year!  We have still not received the tickets but they say they are on the way!!!  At the moment the forecast does not look good.

Here is an early #TBT of when we were all in London in July 2011 when Eldest had finished Seniro School and was moving into the Sixth Form, aged 15, and Youngest had finished Primary School, aged 11,  and was moving to the Senior School where his brother was.

DH, Youngest & Eldest by the gates to Buckingham Palace.

We had a great few days there and did lots of fun things just as an extra special trip because of where they both were.  We went up to Scotland two weeks later for the summer.

At the end of next week we are also going up to see Girlfriend and Penny compete at the International competiton in Cheshire and staying up there, which will be exciting as it is a big show.  Again hoping that the weather is going to be kind but it is England in summer after all.

Treacle has her Spa day tomorrow so I am sure she will show off her new Airecut when she gets back.

I hope you lovely lot are having a great week.

Hello Friday!

It has been a busy old week and I am SO glad it is Friday!!  I spent the day running errands and trying a new hairdresser as my hairdresser for over twelve years has decided she is no longer going to be a hairdresser!!    Which is an absolute nightmare!  You know what it’s like they know your hair and how you like it and now I have to go through the trauma of finding someone else.  Where I have been today was okay but don’t think I will be going back!!

It was raining all night, despite me having watered before I went to bed last night (!) and it has been raining most of today too!  I think summer has gone on its holidays!  Tomorrow is supposed to be the same as today, Sunday no rain but cloudy!  We are hoping to go and see Girlfriend jump with Penny fingers crossed!!!!!  I will let you know.

Treacle has also been sulking as she has not been able to be outside!!!  She has a Spa day next week so she will be all nice and washed for when Summer does come back!!

Whatever you are up to over this weekend I hope you have a lovely time and the weather is kind.

Is it still raining Mom?!

Summer!

It’s Done For Another Year!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week due to it being the Business year end at the end of May, so the whole of June is generally set aside for getting everything ready for the new business year!!!  Including shredding the oldest year of books so that I can transfer the year into storage.  The shredding below!!!

It was also my Birthday on Sunday, thank you for all the good wishes, I had a lovely day with DH, The Boys and Girlfriends but it was also Father’s Day so again chaos!!  We were supposed to go and see Girlfriend jump with Penny but when they got to the Stables to load Penny up she had had an allergic reaction to something so she could not go!!!  She is better now after a visit from the Vet.   So instead we all went out for brunch.  I had some lovely presents from everyone which I will show you soon.

So all I have done all week is work nothing very interesting I am afraid.  At the weekend DH and I are going over to Nottingham to see his Cousin who we have not seen since Christmas and go out for lunch which will be very nice although the weather is not good again with rain forecast.  Hopefully summer will come back soon!

June 28th to July 11th 2021

Only Four Days to go before Wimbledon starts, yeah.  Did so miss this last year with all the pandemic issues.  DH and I are due to go to the RHS Hampton Court Flower show at the beginning of July but have still not received the tickets so really hoping that this is going to be on!!

We are hoping if the weather is good on Sunday to do some more gardening and then we will be all up to date with things around our home and garden.  Just got to keep on top of everything now but when don’t you if you have a home!!!!!!

I hope you are all having a good week and the weather is being kind for summer with you.

The Wednesday Wag.

I was busy this morning keeping an eye on our home as Mom had to take Youngest to work as his car was in for a service.  I was in stealth mode when she came back at the top of the stairs where I can see upstairs and downstairs!!!

I was then outside looking after the garden whilst Mom was working.

Is it biscuit time yet Mom?

I have had such a busy day so it is snooze time in my basket now.

It is very warm today so it is nice to be in the cool. Mom says they are forecasting those horrible thundery storms which I am not keen on so I will probably be hiding in my basket.  I hope you are having a lovely Woofy Wednesday.

Garden Done!

Dh and I spent a lot of last year’s lockdowns getting our garden back into order after a few years of only doing the minimum.  So much so that although we have not been able to do much so far this year it really has not gotten out of hand and only took us Saturday to tidy it all up.  It has been lovely and warm, although Sunday was very hot, but yesterday was back to being nice and warm and today but tomorrow we have forecasts of possible thunderstorms which we always seem to get after some nice warm weather.

Picture Heavy Post Warning!!!!!!!!!

Our new raised planter with some veggies in.

The summer flowers are all coming out now after the cold and wet May we had.

We have put some bedding plants into the pots.

I have re-planted my herby garden with parsley, a new rosemary plant, some oregano and my chives are still doing okay.

The garden from our bench and the table.

The blue of the sky through our tree.

All the above pictures were taken facing the sun so they have a slightly ethereal quality.

Of  course Treacle got in on the act the other evening whilst she was waiting for dinner!!!

This is this afternoon’s picture:

Even though it is warm she still likes to snuggle under her quilt!!!!  Although it is cool in our den next to my desk.

Happy Summer you lovely lot!

Christmas Already?!!!!!

As you will see from my Countdown on my blog there are six months to go before Christmas and yet on some of my favourite Blogs Christmas things are starting to appear!!  I really do admire these Quilty Ladies who start to plan and execute their Christmas projects now and they are all done and sorted in plenty of time for the Gift Giving period.

I try to be organised but sometimes with my quilting it does not happen!!  In fact I have done no quilting for ages as I was trying to get the Spring Cleaning finished and decorating and getting the garden sorted.  However I am hoping from now on I will have a little bit of time to get things done.  I have some quilts which need binding and then I can perhaps start planning some Christmas quilting.

I have my eye on some pretty Christmas fabrics already.

This is Makower Christmas 21 London Icons which is out now, I will be looking out for this.

This is called “Snow Day Red Wagon Christmas” and I think I will be getting this for DH & The Boys.

Loved this material for Christmas cooking.

This will be perfect for Girlfriend for her Puglets, Ralphy & Dottie!!!

The big quilt show, Festival of Quilts, is on this year, Yeah, at the end of July and my tickets arrived last week for the show.  It will be so nice to go and although there won’t be any speakers, there will hopefully be lots of stalls and the fabulous quilts.  I am hoping to get quite a few fabrics there.  I was saving up with “Val’s Quilting Studio” for the year to spend on something quilting and usually spend what I have saved at the quilt show.  Obviously it was cancelled last year so I have two years savings to spend by the time we go in July!!!!  I think I will have to take an extra large bag with me!

I hope you all had a great weekend.  DH and I got the garden sorted on Saturday and it did not take very long after all the work we put in last year during the Lockdowns, so something good came of that.  We do have some trimming of trees etc to do but that can be done any time.  It was warm but not too bad.  Yesterday it was VERY warm, so I sat outside reading whilst DH hid in the garage, which is under our home and quite cool messing around with the sound equipment.  Although he did say it got warm in there too!  I think I probably over did it a bit as I have felt off today, so have spent the day at my desk in the dark working!!  Of course having had a few nice warm days they are now forecasting thunder storms for the middle of the week which is typical.  Hopefully it will be nice again for the end of the week and weekend.

Have a wonderful week you lovely lot.

Susie’s Friday Book Club.

I have only just started this book but have already read several of Karen Rose’s books and love them.  Karen’s Biography reads that she “was introduced to suspese and horror at the tender age of eight when she accidentally read Poe’s “The Pit And The Pendulum” and was afraid to go to sleep for yours.  She now enjoys writing books that make other people afraid to go to sleep”.  Now I don’t find her books that scary but she does wite a very good story.

This book is about Doctor Dani Novak who was been keeping local soccer coach Diesel Kennedy at arms length because of her dark secrets.  However two young boys, Michael Rowland and his younger brother Joshua need their help when Michael runs from his stepfather with his brother in his arms.  Hiding from him he sees him taken away in the trunk of a stangers car never to be seen again.

Michael is now the only witness to who murdered his stepfather and is in grave danager, can Dani and Diesel protect him and his brother but find who is threatening Michael!

I will let you know how it goes as I get into it!!!

******************************

I was asked by one of my loyal readers for pictures of the sitting room and our books now that it has been completed so here are a few on Book Club Day :

Here is one side of the sitting room bookshelves.

The sofa, drinks table and fireplace.

The other sofa, coffee table and fireplace.

The other bookshelves and our TV.

This is my reading chair!  My rocking chair was bought for me by my Grandmother for my 18th Birthday.  I love it and it has done duty as not just a reading chair but also in the Boys’ Nurseries when I was feeding them.

The colour originally in the sitting room was Buttermilk which was slightly yellow but as you know we could not get the colour in the paint we needed so we went for this one which is called “Ivory Lace”, it is slightly cream in colour but looks white in this picture.  I do sometimes wonder with all these names of paint these days whether they are just white with different names!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so pleased it is all done now!

Tomorrow It is going to be warm, dry and sunny again so DH and I are going to get the garden sorted because Sunday is supposed to be the same but very much hotter, so that will definitely be a rest day!!!!

I do hope you lovely lot have a wonderful weekend whatever you are up to and it is a lovely summer’s weekend wherever you are.

The Wednesday Wag.

It is another sunny glorious day in Derbyshire and I have been outside with my tennis ball.

I took my lunchtime biscuit outside as well.

However as it is very warm today I do spend sometime inside on the cool tiles but I can keep an eye on my garden whilst I am in.

Mom follows this lovely Airedale on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/ataleoftoffee/) whose name is Toffee, very similar to my name of Treacle.  However what fascinates Mom about Toffee is those ears, they are apparently “a lifestyle choice” but Mom has never seen an Airedale with standy up ears.  Mom thinks it makes Toffee look surprised all the time, but very, very cute!!!!

I hope you are having some lovely summer weather, I am making the most of it before it rains or becomes cold again.

Have a very good Woofy Week.

Tuesday Things.

After all the rain and how cold it was in May we now have some lovely sunshine and it is warm.  So much so that I have finally got the last of the Spring Cleaning jobs done, ones which need the sun out.

Here are all the baskets and bins in our home which I wash and then leave out to dry in the sunshine, including Treacle’s basket.

I also have crystals around our home (I think they bring good energy to a roome but understand that not everyone believes the same)  I wash them and then run them under cold water and put them on the tray and then put them out in the sun to “charge” them.

I have also managed to get all our curtains washed and the under bedding and now it is the turn of the dressing gowns and a couple of quilts and some other bits I have in the kitchen.  I love it when I can hang the washing out.

Here are the pictures of our outdoor furniture newly painted.

Also here are a few pictures of the flowers currently out in the garden, we have some weeding to do!

Quite a few more flowers are just coming out.  I will have to water them tonight after today’s heat!

This is how blue the sky is today with no clouds!  Bliss.

I hope your Tuesday is going well.  I have managed to get all my work done and these other jobs done in between, as well as answering the door for deliveries for the Boys! The weekend is supposed to be nice so with luck we can get into the garden and do a general tidy up and then perhaps the following weekend we won’t have any jobs to do and can do something different!! Wonders will never cease!!!!
