Oh Boy He Passed!

Image result for passed driving test

Run for cover, Youngest has passed his driving test!!!!!!  All joking aside he has done really well and passed first time which he is so pleased about as his Dad, brother and I did!  Unlike his sister who took seven goes at it.

Just another person I have to worry about out on the roads with all the other lunatics!!!!! img_0468I love daffodils they are such a happy flower and the colour is just perfect for this time of year when it is still grey and raining outside.   Yesterday it rained all day and was very heavy with local flooding so these, which are in our sitting room, make me smile.  I would love to grow them in our garden but as our soil is so wet the bulbs rot.

img_0469Today the weather is very cold but the sun is shining so Treacle is more awake!  This look says when is it dinner time?!!!!!

I finished the binding on the baby quilt and one of my super secret quilts I just now need to sew it to the back and I can then show you.  I also managed to get the other baby quilt cut out and the first of the blocks sewn so I am really pleased.  I am hoping to get a bit more done tonight.

I hope your Tuesday is going well.

Happy Hugs, Susie x

The Calm After The Storm!

You cannot believe the difference between yesterday and today!  It has been very spring like today with even the sun making an appearance!  Treacle even spent sometime outside today!!!!

I have managed to get all my jobs done and just now have the basket of ironing leaving me free to finish the first baby quilt tomorrow and hopefully get the second on cut out.  I must say I love having these weekends when I can quilt all day!  Next weekend I will have to do some jobs but am aiming to get at least one day of quilting done.

It’s Friday, lets do the Snoopy Dance!!!!!

I am also on chauffeur duty tonight for Youngest as he is teaching at the swimming club and then again in the morning and then he and his brother are getting together to start filming his documentary for college which is about cars (surprise, surprise!).

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and hope that Spring is appearing in your part of the World.

Hiding from the Gales!

Treacle and I have been hiding in the Den all day today as it has literally been blowing a gale and lashing rain!  In fact when I opened the door for Treacle to go out in the garden at lunchtime she took one look and retreated to her basket!  It is also very cold!

However the upside of hiding in the den all day is all my work is done 🙂  Treacle has managed to get plenty of sleep as well!

Tomorrow I have home jobs to do and grocery shopping and a basket of ironing but then that leaves the weekend for quilting.

How is your Thursday?

The Wednesday Wag!

img_20170218_174658If Mom isn’t at her desk working she is up in Eldest’s room quilting!  I really sometimes cannot keep track of her!  Here I am waiting for my dinner on Sunday and it was late!  It was 6.05pm and I get fed at 6.00pm on the dot.  Now this really is not on Mom!

img_0454 img_0455Mom went to the sports store to get some tennis balls and would you believe, they didn’t have any!  I am disgusted, but she did stop at the pet store and get me a squeaky hamburger and a woolly sheep.  I love them (the woolly sheep is the same colour as you Treacle!)

img_0453Of course you can only have so much play before it is snooze time!  The weather has been nice and mild over the last few days so I haven’t minded going out but tomorrow they have forecast gales and heavy rain, I think I am going to spend the day in bed!!!!  (you always do anyway Treacle!)

Thank you Mom for the additional comments.

Warm Day!

Today, thanks to the jet stream pushing further north, it has been 18°C recorded at Kew Gardens in London.  Here it has been a little cooler but definitely mild, but it still did not persuade Treacle to be outside any longer than necessary.

What I have noticed over the last few days with the bit warmer weather is several Ladybirds waking up and appearing in our home!!!!!  Obviously towards the end of Autumn they are hibernating in our home over winter and as it has been warm are now venturing out.  My only concern is it is due to get cooler again at the end of the week so hope that they are going to survive.

DH and Youngest spent the whole weekend swimming and I spent the whole weekend quilting!  I got one of the baby quilts pieced and have now started on the actual quilting.  I am not doing a heavy quilt on it as it will detract from the fabric but will show you when it is done.  Next weekend will be the same as last so I am hoping to get the other baby quilt made as well.

Friday I had coffee with Jayne and managed to catch up on months of not having seen each other,  It was a great couple of hours and we are determined to not let it me so long before we see each other again.

Today has been a work day and I managed to catch up, so feel really pleased with myself!!!!

I hope you are having a great Monday

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Image result for valentines day

It’s Valentine’s Day and if you actually look up the meaning there seems to be lots of different interpretations over the years.  However they all mention love and lets face it we can all do with more of that!

DH and I don’t go out, but I will cook a special meal.  The few times we have been out for Valentine’s Day the meal has not been good, the restaurant is packed and they want you to eat up and leave quickly so they can get another set of diners in!!!!  Which really goes against the whole romantic evening!!!!  Also the price goes up, so we don’t go now.   I would sooner go out a few weeks later and not have all the stress.

I will tell you a little story though.  DH, BC (Before Children!!!!) was away on business in London for the week and had several business meetings some of which were in the evening.  So on the Wednesday evening he had arranged to meet a business colleague at a restaurant near his hotel in Knightsbridge.  They got settled and ordered dinner and were talking business when a man walked in playing a violin!  They thought it a little strange but carried on.  Then another waiter came round the tables handing out red roses to the ladies who were dining there.  Again they thought it strange but carried on with business, until the Violin player appeared at their table and serenaded them!!!!  He was,of course, asked to move on and he told them it wasn’t the right attitude for Valentine’s Day!!!!  Of course DH and his colleague had no idea it was February 14th!  It was just another business day to them!!!!!

In fact DH is usually away on Valentine’s Day at a business exhibition although this year it has moved to March!  Wonders will never cease!!!!!

I hope everyone has a lovely evening with their loved ones.

Done!

img_0450Here it is, finally Done!!!!  It has been a long process and would have been finished probably two years ago but then it didn’t!!!  I really like the way it looks and it is the first complicated block I have tackled and a large size.  I was going to originally do cream borders and had got two rows sewn together and then decided it did not look right and as it is for Eldest, cream was probably not the way to go either!!!!

img_0449Another view of the front, kindly held up by Youngest.

img_0451Unfortunately this does not show the back very well but it is a fine blue and white stripe.

img_0452A closer look at the FMQ which I tried to make look like waves in tribute to all the swimming Eldest did.

I almost got another quilt finished which is one of my super secret ones which needed completing but then ran out of the cotton I was using to quilt it!!!! Don’t you just love when that happens – NOT?!!!!!!  I went to the quilt shop today and I think I have got something close to it as they didn’t have the exact one I had before!!!! Oh good grief Charlie Brown!!!!

I have also cut out and started piecing the first of the Baby Quilts and I am already making a few changes to it!

Had a great weekend although I didn’t get any jobs done but hey ho.

Throwback Thursday!

james-bondTwelve years ago here are the Boys on Half term Holiday in London.  Daddy was at an exhibition just outside London and I took the boys into the city every day to visit the museums and one of the visits was to Madame Tussauds.  They both loved and still do James Bond so when they saw the wax of Pierce Brosnan as Bond they had to have their picture taken with it!!!!!  Eldest was nine and Youngest was five!

We were staying at an apartment in Chertsey which is twenty seven miles outside of London and getting the train in which went over Clapham Junction.  This is a huge hub for the trains and it has railways going in every direction.  The Boys loved it, they had never seen so many trains.

Clapham Junction

We came into Waterloo station which is enormous and at that time the terminal for the Eurostar.  We came back to the station in the evening and I was trying to find the platform for the Chertsey line and there were hundreds.  I suddenly found it and it was right round the other side and we only had a few minutes to catch it.  It was like a comedy film with the Boys and I running through to get the train.  We made it, just!!!!  The Boys loved it!!!!!

It was a great week and we spent every day at the museums, including the Natural History Museum which was their favourite.whaleLovely memories.  Happy Thursday everyone

The Wednesday Wag!

img_0444It’s been a funny old week here.  The weather is not good and I have to keep having my paws wiped every time I come in from a walk and dried all over after having been in the garden.

Yesterday I got to go for a walk with Dad as he had taken his truck in for a service and so we walked back home.  It was great.

img_0447Today I have been driving Mom mad as every few minutes I dive out of my basket, which I manage to fling into the back of her chair and race to the window barking!!!  Here is a picture of my basket after one of these episodes!!!!

img_0448This is where it should really be!!!  I think I keep hearing that pesky squirrel or it could be the rat!

img_0439Of course I always want to see what Mom is up to with her camera but she says I got a little too close here!!!!!!

Mom has also promised me some new tennis balls at the end of the week and I can’t wait as I seem to have lost all of my others!!!!

I hope you are having a woofy Wednesday
