Second Friday of the Month
So I went into hospital on February 17th and took this book with me, especially as it was 798 pages long so knew it would keep me entertained as there is not a lot to do when you are confined to a bed or chair!!! I had already begun reading it before I went in and had got to about page 80 and it was good, although it is not a classic Stephen King novel. Perhaps because it is written with his son, Owen, it is more thought provoking rather than the traditional scare fest.
Women all over the world are falling asleep and not waking up but are all okay so long as you don’t try and wake them. If you do they turn into manic beings trying to kill you oh and they are covered in a very fine gossamer like web! The little town of Dooling, West Virginia is the only place which can hope to save all the women of the World and their little corner of it. How are the men coping without their womenfolk? Not very well.
I did enjoy the book and it did keep me busy whilst I was in but I was a bit disappointed that it was not the usual scare fest of his earlier books. It was also a bit slow in places and I felt that it could have been concluded in about 500 pages. I would say wait until it is out in paperback, although of course it will be even longer, or on your electronic devices.
