Builders!

I have spent the last week walking up and down to where the builders are working with cups of tea and biscuits!  I have never known anyone drink so much.  I must have lost two inches going up and down the steps!
They have really done well and of course they have got on so fast I have missed taking some pictures at each stage.  I did, however, get some pictures of the cement lorry.

Busy, Busy!

Yesterday evening our Eldest did his first Exam for Drama and we parents and younger ones were asked to go along and make the audience, whilst the examiner did her bit.  Eighteen students performed in various plays and our son’s was the best, but I would say that!  They were all good.

The builders are progressing well and I will load some pictures later of what we have gained in our room.  It won’t be a sewing room though as they cannot make it into a room without major works, which we cannot do at the moment.  So it will be storage but that is good too!  Whilst I am writing this they are drilling the wall under my feet and if feels as if the drill is in my ear!  I think I will be going out very soon to run some errands.  I don’t think I will be able to stand it for too long!
Getting ready for our trip to The Highlands of Scotland and can’t wait.  Although both Boys will be revising for their exams when they get back, we will have time to relax.  I will have time to do some quilting without interruptions and can’t wait.
I have got some new fabric and have one or two projects I need to make for gifts so need to get on with those.  Here are some pictures of my new fabric, can’t wait to get cutting.
Have been blog hopping and there are so many lovely blogs out there.  I find I sometimes spend the time I could be quilting looking at other peoples blogs.  But it is great to see what everyone else is up to.
Happy Sewing.

Sewing in the Dust

The builders are getting on well and I will post some more pictures tomorrow.  Meanwhile I have still been trying to sew in all the mess.
All the little strips I cut out last week have now been put together and also done the embroidery.  This is going to be a cover for my Janome machine and I think it will look great.
It is a Bareroots pattern I picked up whilst we were in the States last year.

The Builders Have Moved In!

As you may have gathered from different posts our house is the house that Jack Built!  Badly!  Every time we have done something to it, something else has gone wrong, broken or needed a major fix.
When we moved in, the previous owners said that there was a “void” under the sitting room which could be made into another garage/room/storage etc.  Needless to say we have not done anything about it until now.
Next year Eldest Son will be driving and as we did not want to extend the drive way any more we thought it would be a good idea to explore this “void”.  We could then use it for storage and clear the present garage and use it for his car.
Well the builders moved in on Monday and dug out two bricks to see if there is anything there and if we can use it.  Well they found a “void” but with half a ton of soil and some concrete.  Our builder said that if they had dug this out at the time they built it, it would have been so easy.  Not so much now!  Of course we should have known.  But we have said carry on and this is how far they have got so far with three of them digging out.  Unfortunately as it is such a tight space it all has to be done manually!  Can you see the final figure increasing?  I can!!!!!  Anyway endless cups of tea and biscuits later they are doing well and have now managed to get access to the rear wall.
What it does mean is that we have a whole new room. At the moment it is for storage but I am also perhaps thinking sewing room????????? Lol  We will have to see how it looks when they are got it all cleared.  I will keep taking pictures for you to see.

April Fool’s Day

How do you fool a 15 year old and an 11 year old on April Fool’s Day, when they have both said they won’t be caught?
You go in at 6.00am and wake them up and tell them it has snowed overnight and to come look out of the window!
They both fell for it!  Yeah score one for Mom!
