Throwback Thursday!

IMG_0814Bonfire Night is coming up, November 5th, and so for Throwback Thursday here are the Boys on Bonfire Night 2007 aged 12 and 8!  (This also goes back to the earlier post this week and Harry Potter! Eldest is pretending the sparkler he is holding is a wand and the jacket he is wearing is similar to the one Harry wore in two of the films!)

Remember, remember the Fifth of November – Gunpowder, Treason and Plot. I see no reason, why the Gunpowder Treason should never be forgotten. Guy Fawkes Guy Fawkes, guy, t’was his intent To blow up King and Parliament. Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow.   By God’s Mercy, he was catch’d with a darkened lantern and burning match.  So, holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring.  Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King. And what shall we do with him? Burn him!

The Instigators of the Gun Powder Plot!

Hope you are having a Thrilling Thursday!  It is raining again here!

The Wednesday Wag!

DSC04400It has been raining here all day today, so I decided to do some yoga.  We dogs have to keep in shape you know.  This pose is known as The Basket!

DSC03643This is Chair Pose.

DSC03613Of course the Final Stretch Pose!

I feel so relaxed now!  Mom is busy ironing and Youngest is busy revising for his exams!  I think they will both need to do some yoga when they have finished.

Happy Woofy Wednesday.

Oh What A Lazy Two Days!

Youngest is off for the week, so no getting up at the crack of dawn and rushing around to get to school!  Plus we got an extra hour in bed over the weekend with our clocks falling back!  Monday I had to be up early, but Youngest stayed in bed, as our new dishwasher was arriving and the delivery slot was between 7.00 and 11.00am!  They didn’t arrive until 10.00am but I did get a lot of work done, so that was a benefit.

Needless to say we didn’t get a lot of the jobs done over the weekend as life interrupted again!  However I am determined this week to get things finished.  This morning Youngest came with me to do the grocery shopping and it was great to have a helper!  He has swimming tonight but I am going to sort some jobs out.

As you may know we live on a hill.  We are near the top so our driveway is flat and our gardens slope but not too steeply.  The houses lower down the hill have very steep drives and gardens.  A couple of weeks ago a house on our side of the road, their car was in the garage on the flat and it rolled out of the garage and down the slope into the house opposite!  Right through the front windows and was three quarters of the way in when it finally stopped!  Fortunately the gentleman who lives there was not at home.  The house is now all boarded up but DH and I were saying it is going to be awful to sort it all out.

Over the weekend one of the film channels has been taken over by the Harry Potter films and it has been great watching them all again!  Eldest was six when they first came out and has seen them all at the cinema, Youngest was two and as his brother was always talking about Harry Potter it became very much a part of his growing up.  He used to call it Harr Potter!  When Eldest moved to senior school whatever bag Harry had in the films Eldest wanted for school!  Some of them were quite a challenge to find!  I read the books to both boys when they were little and have re-read them again.  They evoke wonderful memories.

In 2012 we visited the studio tour of Harry Potter World and it is amazing.  It is all the sets, props etc that they used in the films.  Well worth a visit if you are ever that way.

Despite being 17 and 13 they really had a blast they just wouldn’t admit it!!!!!!

Getting ready for Halloween, although Youngest is at a swimming competition all day!  Treacle is loving having Youngest at home all day, especially as she can snuggle for longer in the morning!  I hope your Tuesday is going well.

Sneaky Friday!

I was supposed to be doing house jobs, I was supposed to be doing work, I was supposed to be organising the weekend; BUT I DIDN’T!!!!!! I snuck off to the spa for a back massage!!!!  I carry tension in my shoulders and it gets to the point where you could chop wood on my back it is so tense!!!!!!  The lady I see, who I have known for over ten years, has a horrible time trying to massage my neck and shoulders, I am sure she will need a massage herself by the time she has dug her fingers in to try and relieve some of the tension!!!  Not good!!!  Anyway I feel so much better now, but I don’t want to do anything else now!!!!

Everyone in the house has to be up super early tomorrow morning for swimming so I am going to get up then and do my jobs.  I have done my work though so that is one job off the list!!!  You remember those lists!!!!!

From today until Sunday it is the Malvern Autumn Quilt Show.  Unfortunately I can’t go but they always put on a good event.

Speaking of quilting I am still working on the two left super secret quilts which I need to finish, so this weekend along with my other jobs I am going to sort out into groups things I need to do!  I have also had a great idea of how to get the Boys quilts pinned.  DH has access to our village hall, so when it is not being used one evening, we are going to go down and get some of the big tables out and lay the the sandwich on that to pin it!  I think my knees will be thanking me, not so sure about my back though!!!  Can’t win!

DSC04927Treacle has had a few quiet days!  She has not been sick again, thank goodness, but has obviously been recuperating, although she did see the squirrel in the garden earlier and she was making a tremendous racket until I let her out.  It had long gone by then though!!!!

Well I hope you all made it to Friday fairly unscathed and have a great Autumn Weekend.

Where Do You Stand?

It’s Thursday again!  Where do these weeks go?  Anyway here is a conundrum for today.  Where do you stand on this?  No not actually stand but the word; roofs or rooves?

A very good friend of ours, who is a builder, and I had a discussion about this, I said rooves and he said not its roofs!  Now the English Language as we well know always has its contradictions; sheep is singular and plural although I think we should campaign for the plural to be sheeps, it sounds so good!!!  Hoof becomes hooves, loaf becomes loaves but apparently not roof!

If you use the dictionary it says that both can be correct and in fact both are used but I think we need a definitive answer.   There was an article in the Daily Telegraph yesterday and it mentioned a roof and several commentators were discussing it and some used roofs and some used rooves.

So which do you use – Is it roofs or rooves?

Youngest is at the swimming club tonight for coaching and then afterwards is going to a local fair with a friend, who is a girl!  Don’t ask!!!!!  I have been working all day and tomorrow I am doing home jobs and getting things ready for the weekend.  This will be the last one when we don’t have something on before Christmas and there are lots of jobs I need to get done!  Tomorrow is also the last day of this half term and Youngest has a week off and I will be taking advantage of that as well to get some things sorted!

However we do get a bonus this weekend, an extra hour back!!!! Yeah!!!!!!

The leaves (!) are now falling fast and being kamikaze in the road!  It makes me jump when you see something skipping across the road, thinking it could be a little animal only to find it is a leaf!!!!!

I think my nerves are shot!

Hope you are having a Happy Thursday!

The Wednesday Wag!

It’s been raining all day today so I thought it would be a good idea to get some ideas down for my Christmas presents and give Mom a list!

I saw this and I think it would suit Dad and I!

If you don’t fancy the reindeer ears this year you can always be a Christmas Elf!

For those of a Scottish decent this lovely outfit!  Have you noticed though that all the clothes are for small dogs!  Not many seem to be made for my size! (I know the feeling Treaks!!!!!)

There are lots of toys out there but I rather like this Scandinavian reindeer.

I am going to put my list together for Mom! (what Treacle doesn’t know is that I have already bought her Christmas presents!!!!)

I hope your Wednesday is drier than mine.

Woof, Treacle

Cooking!

Still not feeling too good, but getting on with it!!!!!  I am enjoying this show’s return.  I don’t like the British version of Masterchef but the Australian version is great and I think it is to do with the way they run the event and the presenters. If you get a chance to watch it, its really good.

DSC04975Treacle got the whole household up last night, well at 2.00am, as she was sickl!  Youngest was busy cleaning the carpet, I was bundling her bed into the washing machine and DH was supervising the outside visit!  It was really cold at 2.00am!!!!!!  Of course Youngest and DH went back to bed and seemed to be asleep instantly, me? NO!  I had to read a couple of chapters of my book before I could go back to sleep!

DSC04976Here she is lying on her upstairs bed propped up against her inner bed which goes in her basket.  That is outside drying!

DSC04974Here are my lists, as you can see five of them!   I am starting to tick those jobs off!!!!  I will get there!!!!!

Tonight is a swimming session but on Friday Youngest breaks up for a week’s holiday and we have, so far, got nothing planned for the weekend.  Well nothing official, I do have lots of jobs to be done!!!!!!!!  I need another list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your Tuesday is going well.

I Need More Lists!

Yep all the lists I made for the weekend have been re-edited!!!  As I didn’t get a lot done again!!!!  I just need more days in the weekend and more hours in the day!!

This was today!!  Trying to sort out work, jobs, children, house; you know what it’s like but by lunch I was having a mid-Mom Crisis!!!  Grabbed a quick lunch and then got down to work which I managed to get done before I picked Youngest up from school, but whilst waiting for him started to feel nauseous!!  Youngest made me a cup of tea but still not feeling good!  I think we will be eating out of the freezer tonight, something quick which I can throw in the oven that needs no messing and then I am going to have an early night!!!!

This is the book I am reading at the moment and it is really interesting.  It’s about the contribution the WI (Women’s Institute) made to the War Effort during World War II.  It harks back to an era which, although very hard in very many ways, brought communities together and moved women from out of the home and into businesses.  In some ways I feel a little envious of them because it was a simpler way of life, very hard but simple.  If you get a chance read it.

I am off to throw something together for dinner and then I am going to hide in bed!

Hugs, Susie x

Friday Yeah!

We made it to Friday!

But have you noticed how fast Friday comes round?  Then, of course, how quickly it is Monday again?

We will make the most of Friday while it is here.

I have managed to get all the cleaning done, the washing and ironing done, and grocery shopping!  How about that for making the most of the day!!!  Just need to get the little of bit of paying work done and I am all caught up and can play at the weekend!!!!!!!

Baking, cooking, sewing, that sort of playing!  What did you think I meant!!!!!  Of course that is in between chauffeuring around Youngest to various things!!!!!  Girlfriend is home for a week and a bit as the French schoolchildren are off next week (ours are off the following week!).  So Eldest is happy!

I hope your Friday and Weekend are Wonderful.
