I Give Up!

Image result for not feeling well

It was inevitable!  DH had been out with one of his work colleagues who had a bad cold and so he got it!  I was doing okay I had managed to avoid lots of people coughing and spluttering and sneezing everywhere but no!  I have the cold now!!!!  And also it is all in my head!!!  I don’t have a runny nose or a cough but I sound like I am speaking from the bottom of a very deep well!  In fact Treacle would not come near me today as I don’t sound like me!!!!!

Image result for busy workSince last week and the Election over the pond and the World did not end (!) work has gone mad!  This happened in June with our Referendum and the World did not end then!  Hopefully now we will be able to have a few months of steady work and not this feast and famine every month!!!!!  Universe are you listening?

Tomorrow evening we have the Young Swimmers for their Christmas party and it will be two hours of absolute, full on, non stop organised chaos!!!!!!!!  By the time it ends at 9.00pm we will be in a corner exhausted!!!!  The children will have a blast though!

Image result for christmas wallpaperSaturday we are Christmas Shopping!  I don’t care what happens between now and then we are shopping!!!!!!  Unfortunately the Christmas lights won’t be lit by then as the switch on is not until the following week but the stores are all looking very Christmasy!!!!!

I hope your Thursday is going well!

The Wednesday Wag!

DSC05280I am in my basket today and have been watching the comings and goings at home!  Dad went out first, then Mom and then Youngest.  Youngest came back early (I got fed early too!) then Mom got back but Dad is still out!!!!!  It has been like this all week!  I don’t know whether I am coming or going.

The weather isn’t too bad today and I have been out in my garden and Mom has promised that we will go for an extra long walk hopefully at the weekend.  Mom and Dad are also going Christmas Shopping so I am getting my Christmas List together.

1. Tennis Ball or seven, 2. Squeaky Toy or eight, 3. New collar, 4. Some new Reindeer antlers (mine have gone missing), 5. Some yummy treats.

I think that’s about it but I am sure I can think of some more before Saturday!!!!!

I am also keeping my paws crossed that Mom gets her sewing room tidied soon as I cannot get in and use Eldest’s bed!  It is such a mess!  I really need to make sure she gets it done!

I hope you are having a Woofy Wednesday

Oh My The Days Are Flying By!

I swear it was Friday nine minutes ago!!!!!  The days are flying and with it the time to get things done!!!

The Younger Swimmers had a great championships on Friday night and they really enjoyed themselves. DH, Youngest and I were shattered by the end of it!!!!  The Older Swimmers did their second half of the championships on Saturday evening and Youngest won two and came third in his final race, so he was really pleased.  Again DH and I were shattered by the end of it!  Sunday DH and Youngest were helping at the Remembrance Day service and did not get home until 2.00pm and I spent the weekend getting jobs done!

This Saturday DH and I are going Christmas shopping!  You will not believe the logistics we have had to go through to ensure we get to go and I am keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens between now and then to scupper it!!!!  Sunday DH is out again at a swimming event as President so I am trying to get some more order in my sewing room.

dsc02548Treacle is very woolly at the moment but it is cold, so I am going to arrange for her haircut at the beginning of December and then she will be okay for Christmas.  However it is not good when I am trying to brush her because she is so curly!!!!!

I have been trying to catch up on my favourite blogs but have not had chance to comment on them. Hopefully I will be able to catch up over the next few days.  At the moment I feel like those hamsters on their wheels!!! My little paws are going as fast as possible but I am not getting anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you are having a great Tuesday

There are 40 More Days to Go To Christmas!

28 Years Today!

Image result for christian marriage

Twenty eight years to the day and date DH and I became one! Even though it was November the weather was amazing, it was cold and bright and very frosty!  We had a great day surrounded by family and friends and in the evening we left for our honeymoon in the Lake District. Oh and it snowed whilst we were there!

Today, the weather is cold and raining (!) and tonight we are at the big pool we swim at with the older swimmers in their second Championships!!!!!  We will float our celebration to a little nearer Christmas!  We may get a day where we can sneak a few hours for us(!) But

I found the one and got my Happily Ever After!

Have a lovely weekend.

Hugs, Susie x

Yep it’s Friday folks!

Image result for Remembrance Day

Also Remembrance Day so at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month the country will fall silent in remembrance of all those who gave their lives for us all in World War I and II and all other conflicts since.

Later we will be dealing with all the little ones at their swimming championships from age 5 to age 8!!!!  Wish us luck!!!!

Have a super Friday and Weekend folks.

Oh What A Week!

Image result for stressed snoopy

It has been a bit like this over the last week! None of us have known whether we are coming or going including Treacle!!!

It started last Saturday and I had just finished doing the cleaning (at 6.00am in the morning!) and I opened the curtains in our kitchen when something caught my eye in the garden.  It was a bird of some sort but a lot bigger than we normally get.  Needless to say it ran into the bushes so I had to wait for it to appear.

img_0226Now do you remember me telling you how wet our garden is in Winter?  This is because we have sandstone under the soil and it does not drain.  Well this bird is a Jack Snipe who usually inhabits wetlands (!)  I really didn’t think our garden was THAT wet!!!!!!!  They are winter visitors to our country and we think he had gotten tired from flying in and stopped off with us for a rest before going on to where he usually stays.  He had gone by the next morning.  Needless to say Treacle was not allowed out during the day whilst he was visiting us.

img_0240 img_0241Saturday night we held our Bonfire get together and the weather was cold and frosty.  The fireworks were really good and afterwards we had hot dogs for dinner.  Treacle was in her basket and not bothered by the whole event.

Sunday DH was out all day at a swimming event in Nottingham as President so after taking Youngest up to the swimming club where he was teaching from 8.00am until 9.00am we then went grocery shopping.  I then tried to make another dent in the keepsake boxes of Eldest’s and I think I managed to get some more order, but I am having to do this in stages.  I did not get any quilting done as all the boxes are in the way so I am determined that this week I am going to finish it.

I began the Christmas baking but did not get the cakes done as they take four hours each to bake and I just ran out of time.

This week has been really busy with the business, my car had to go in for a recall which DH took in for me, Youngest has been busy with college and has now taken over an hour’s show at the radio station and he is doing really well.

This weekend tomorrow evening we have the Young swimmers championships and then on Saturday evening the second part of the main pool championships, DH and Youngest are having their hair cut on Saturday morning and Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and DH and Youngest are helping out at the service in Alfreton!  Of course in between I have the house to clean again, grocery shopping to do, washing and ironing to be done and another thousand jobs!!!!!  Well that’s what it seems like!  Next week DH and I are going Christmas shopping  as it is the only Saturday we have free before December and we have had to re-arrange three things to get to do that!!!!!

Anyway the John Lewis (the best department store in the UK) Christmas advert is out and it is great.  Here is a link, which I hope works, for you to watch it.  Watch the advert  ›

I have also been so busy I have not been reading or commenting on any of my favourite blogs which I am hoping to catch up on over the weekend too!

Treacle is on strike as we have run out of Bonios!!!!   I am not popular.

This is her disgusted sleeping position!!!!!

I hope everyone is well and tomorrow is Friday!!!!! Yeah!!!!

Throwback Thursday!

dsc04134Our clocks went back at the weekend and with it Winter arrived!  Even though it is still really Autumn there was a heavy frost the other morning and we were out scraping cars before going off to work and college!!

img_0289Saturday is Bonfire Night and at the moment it is looking dry and cold.  This picture was taken eleven years ago on Bonfire Night with the Boys being 11 and seven!!!  It is one of their favourite evenings of the year, along with Goose Fair!

Christmas is fast approaching and today I got my stash of cards, wrapping and all the other things out to see what I need to buy, if anything.  I try each year to get my cards when they are on sale and in the last few years have managed to get some really lovely cards for next to nothing!  Especially when the Boys were younger and sending a card to everyone in their classes!

I have got all the ingredients for the Christmas cakes and Puddings and will be getting them made at the weekend.

Treacle loves this time of year, especially when I spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  She is always my helper keeping an eye out for anything which gets dropped on the floor. She is so worried that I might slip on it she cleans it up right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hasten to add I do try not to spill anything!

DSC05281I’ll help Mom, just let me know when!

I hope you are having a thrilling Thursday!  Tomorrow is Friday and another weekend comes round, really need to get on with those To Do Lists!

The Wednesday Wag!

DSC05226Ode To The Biscuit Tin

Your colour is teal but there are no feathers on you, You’re big and round which sure is true,

Filled with delights of a biscuit or two!

Dad dips in often and so does Youngest, but Mom stays away except when she is hungriest!

I sometimes am allowed a broken one or two, but Mom says if I get fat I will be blue!

Christmas is coming and I need to write to Santa, for something I really, really need

This year its not tennis balls or beds or collars, which I would really, really like?

Opposable Thumbs!!!!!

However Mom says if I did get opposable thumbs she would be setting me to work and then I could have a biscuit or two as payment!!!!!!  I don’t know if I like the sound of that!!!!  I think I will stick to my special Bonio Biscuits, at least they are all mine and the Hoomans don’t want to eat them!!!!!

Have a Woofy Wednesday

Save

Shattered Tuesday!

We celebrated DH’s Birthday on Saturday with a family meal and it was a lovely evening and great fun catching up with Eldest and Girlfriend.  Youngest also went to his friend’s 17th Birthday get together and they went to the local ice hockey match in Nottingham and then for something to eat.  They all stayed at the friend’s house as well and got home at 9.30am the next morning and he went straight back to bed!!!!!!

Image result for clocks fall backAt 2.00am on Sunday morning we got to “Fall Back” an hour which was really nice to have that extra hour in bed and as Youngest had been out the night before we didn’t have to get up to take him swimming either!!!!!!!  We managed to also get a few jobs done as well before swimming in the evening!

We had about fifty visitors last night for Trick or Treat and the costumes were great and the children very good but it finished quite early as it was a school night.  The weather stayed fine as well which always helps.  I did not get around to carving the pumpkin so it went outside as it was and I put the Boys old light pumpkins in the windows.  I did the first hour of opening the door then DH and Youngest got back and they did the next couple of hours.  Treacle was fed up after the fifth ring of the doorbell and went to bed.

This coming Saturday is Bonfire Night and we will be having fireworks and a bonfire and hot dogs!  Hopefully the weather will be good again. I am also going to get the Christmas Baking done and Sunday DH is out as President again, so I am hoping to get some quilting done!!  Shush don’t say it too loud and it may come true!!!!!!

I hope you are having a Terrific Tuesday

Hugs, Susie x
