Our Two Boys – Eldest & Youngest and what they have been and are up to!

Oh Boy What a Week!

Right I hope you are ready for this post as it is going to be a bit long!

IMG_0201This person, Eldest, as you can see was Ten in this picture.  Well eleven years later he was twenty one!

IMG_0152Happy 21st Eldest we love you and are very proud of you.

This is his smile now!  What is it with Boys and not smiling!!!  Anyway ten of us went out for dinner on Monday evening and had a lovely time and celebrated his 21st in style.  We then went back to their place for cake and presents.  On Sunday we hosted a family and friends lunch at home for his Birthday.  We had ten for lunch and fortunately the weather was good.  It was a lovely afternoon.IMG_0154This is his Birthday cake which Girlfriend made.  Tiramisu cake and it was lovely.

Today was results day for Youngest and although he didn’t get exactly what he wanted he did well with a mixture of B’s, C’s and one D!  Almost the same as his Brother!!!!  So he has decided to take the course at the college in Nottingham which is Acting & Film Production which he really wants to do.  We are so happy and proud of him and he is really pleased that he got in to the college.  He begins on September 12th!

Swimming is on its summer break for a week – NO SWIMMING FOR A WEEK YEAH!!!!!!!!

Here are some more pictures from the holiday.  We sailed up Loch Ness again and the weather was amazing.  We stayed outside on deck for the whole trip.

IMG_0124The wake from the boat, which is often mistaken for the Loch Ness Monster.  People used to ask us when the Boys were little if they were going Monster hunting.  Our reply was “No we don’t need to as we take two little Monsters with us”!!!!!!!!!!!!

Told you it was a long post!!!!!  Hope everyone is having a Thrilling Thursday and thanks to all who have commented on Treacle’s post for The Pets On Quilts show at Lily Pad Quilting.  Voting is open now.  Treacle is not very well at the moment.  She went to the vets today and has some form of bug so we are dosing her up with medicine and she is on a special diet.  Hopefully she will pick up in a few days, otherwise it will be a return visit to the vets!

Are We There Yet?

I am playing taxi driver this week as Youngest is doing his Level 2 Teaching Aquatics course and because Derbyshire are having a problem with the local pools the course is being run in Litchfield.  Now from where we live to get there is approximately three quarters of an hour and on Saturday DH and I went off to find out where the leisure centre was so I knew for Monday morning, when Youngest had to be there for 8.30am.

Monday morning we set off at 7.30am and got to within ten miles when the traffic was at a full stop!  Saturday night/Sunday morning they had put  over five miles of roadworks up, but there were no signs to say they were doing this on Saturday!!!!!!  We made it in time, just, but it was very close.  So having spoken to DH at work he told me of a back route to get home avoiding the traffic, which I used last night and this morning.  It takes well over an hour to get there now but with no traffic hold ups, but it is all country lanes!!!  I clocked the mileage today and it is forty miles so I am doing 160 miles a day!!!!!!!    Youngest is really enjoying the course, so that is all that counts.

In other news (!) I managed with DH’s help to get Eldest’s/the Sewing room cleaned from top to bottom and it looks wonderful now.  I still have some sewing to do which I am hoping to get done later this week.   I also have some extra housework to do before we go away on vacation.  Eldest and Girlfriend are looking after the home while we are away so I am getting things sorted before then.  Can’t wait to go away!!!!!

IMG_0073Treacle is misbehaving and has now decided to eat the fuschia flowers!!!  She has been told off and sent to her basket and is now looking very sorry for herself!!!!

At the end of August Eldest celebrates his 21st Birthday and we get back from vacation on the Saturday, so he has decided he wants to go out on his actual Birthday, which is the Monday, for dinner.  We have booked a table at The Bulls Head, Repton for eleven of us and I am glad that is another thing ticked off my To Do List!!!!

I have a basket of ironing to get done before I go and collect Youngest and then take him straight to swimming.

I hope your Tuesday is going well

Throwback Thursday!

It’s getting to that time of year when Sports Days for Schools are happening and of course when the Boys were little we got to go and see them.  When they move to Senior School you don’t get to go.  It is one of those days that I treasured going to see them doing their running races.  Here are a couple of pictures of the Boys when they were little.

The Wednesday Wag! (with help)

DSC05280What’s that you say, its Wednesday?  I need to write my Wednesday Wag?  It can’t be Wednesday, it was only Wednesday a few days ago!!!!  Hmm  Not Happening!

DSC05281Well there you go, Treacle is too busy snoozing to write her Wednesday Wag or even wag her tail!!!!  It is coming up to that time of year where we meet ourselves coming backwards!!!  Carnival is now in full steam ahead mode with a meeting every week and all the problems and issues coming to the fore!

Exams are still in full flow with three more left until Youngest has finished and I don’t have to run backwards and forwards to school for an hour or two hours here and there!

I am slowly but surely getting things finished for my stall at Carnival, the nearer it gets the more nervous I am.  You know how critical people can be and there are a lot of critical people who live in our village!!!!!!  Oh what I have done???????????????????

Work is busy as well, which is good, but well you know.

It is also getting busy with the swimming club Open which is the day after Carnival, when we will have to be at the swimming pool by 7.00am after a late night the day before.  The Open is full and we have over 250 swimmers with over 1000 swims!!!  That Monday will be a slow one!

Sunday is Father’s Day of course and my Birthday on Monday (not a good day to have a Birthday, I prefer Fridays and Saturdays!!!!).

Well I think that is this week so far (!).  Looking forward to Friday when I am taking Youngest out to Lunch as it is the end of his exams.

Hope your Wednesday is going well (it is pouring with rain again here 🙁  )

Wet Hugs, Susie xx

A Commission!

DSC03998I have my first commission!  To make a quilt for DH’s cousin’s first Grandchild, a little girl!  The baby is due at the end of May so I have plenty of time to get organised.  Granddad is from Sweden so their only request was to incorporate some fabric from the Moomin range, which their girls grew up with.

I managed to find some on Etsy and have ordered it and when it arrives I am going to take it to the quilt store to match some of the colours!  I think I may be doing the pattern above as it lends itself to having the Moomin fabric as the central piece and to make a feature of it.  Well that’s the plan at the moment!!!!!

Needless to say I didn’t get anything done in Eldest’s/Quilt Room 🙁 nor did I get the quilts basted as I was busy catching up on house jobs and two basket loads of ironing!   I am hoping to some things done in the evenings this week.

We had a little flurry of snow on Sunday but not enough for Treacle to play in, and it didn’t last and was gone by the evening!

DSC05156We took Youngest go-karting for his Birthday before Christmas but unfortunately it was cut short as the track was becoming slippy, so on Friday we took him and seven friends for a return match, especially as they had all finished their mock exams.  They had a great evening and Youngest came third in the race they had between them!  We ended up at McDonalds for tea, which they all enjoyed too!

I hope your Monday is going well.

Hugs, Susie x
