Well Wimbledon is over for another year and to be honest I did not watch as much as I normally do. The Women’s draw I had no idea who most of the players were and had never heard of the two finalists. I was actually out when they played their final. I did see the Men’s final yesterday, a repeat of last year, and also the same winner, Alcaraz. It was not the most thrilling of matches to watch. I also got a little fed up this year that the reports of Wimbledon were more interested in who was attending and what they were wearing rather than the tennis! I despair sometimes at the media’s attention of so called celebs! It was great to see The Princess of Wales there though.
We don’t watch or follow Football but England lost in the final of the European Cup to Spain, so Spain had two celebrations yesterday!
DH and The Boys were at Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend and the event was on this year, after the high winds last year meant it was cancelled. This is when they arrived first thing in the morning waiting for breakfast!
The Start of the Uphill bit.
In the Paddock looking at them preparing the cars for the Hill Climb
“The King” From Cars
Ferrari – Lewis Hamilton’s Team next year!
A great picture from one of the Grandstands opposite the House
Partner, Girlfriend and I had a lovely evening together on Saturday, with Little Man of course. I decided rather than getting a Takeaway I would have a go at making some Chinese dishes. I made Chicken Chow Mein. spicey beef, sweet & sour chicken with rice. It was good but I have respect for Chinese takeaways every where that produce all these meals in ten minutes when it took me about four hours to make all the dishes!! Next time we will have a Takeaway!
The Boys got back about 1.00pm on Sunday and we got a few jobs done and then had an early dinner and went to bed as we were all shattered!!!
This week is a quiet week work wise. Jayne and I are going for lunch to a new pub tomorrow and then we have friends coming for dinner on Saturday night. This weekend and next DH is not at any swimming events so we can get a few jobs done and also have a couple of days off too. I am hoping that the weather is going to be nice so we can do a bit of gardening and also have some time to sit outside. The weather this summer has been awful, with quite a bit of rain and cloudy cool days and it looks like it is going to be like this for the rest of the summer. We are away soon on vacation and although it is great to have sun and lovely weather, I am not that bothered I just want to be away for two weeks from work! Youngest & Girlfriend unfortunately are not able to come up and see us but they will be home sitting for us and looking after little Coco.
Now I have my sewing set up in Eldest’s Room I won’t be taking that with me but I will be taking lots of books to read. It will be great as I won’t get too many interruptions! I will show you the books I am going to take with me and also do Book Club Friday this coming week, it was a little busy last Friday!
Have a lovely week.
Hugs & Love, Susie & Coco xx
As DH was not here for two nights, Madam made use of his side of the bed!
I hope everyone in the US has a wonderful day. Here it is actually sunny and a little warm today but very windy! We never seem to catch a break here. In fact on my Snoopy Calendar yesterday The Daily Extra said “Healthy Living: Aim to get some sunlight first thing every morning. Exposing yourself to sunlight when you wake up will boost your mood and help you sleep better at night” Well whoever wrote that has never lived in the UK! Up to today it has been cloudy, overcast and raining AGAIN! Sometimes we don’t see the sun for days if not weeks. No wonder we all have sleep problems.
I have had a couple of trips to see our Doctors over the last few months, I won’t bore you with the details but whilst coping with that I have now got something else which requires antibiotics. They don’t like prescribing them much these days but in this case I needed them. Youngest had to go today as he has had a bad throat for about three weeks and he now has antibiotics too. I am sure it is all down to our wretched weather!
Carnival Week in the Village is progressing, DH has been out most evenings but I have not been at all. Just providing dinner for DH, Youngest & Girlfriend when they get home. Tonight is the Wild, Wet & Wacky event which is mainly the Teenagers event. Various silly games with a lot of water and foam and teams competing against each other! Last night was the Duck Race (no not real ones, the plastic variety) and tomorrow is the Cake competition and getting ready for Saturday.
Of course you guessed it, it is due to rain on Saturday. Also the England team in football has got through to the quarter finals and are playing on Saturday at 5.00pm so everyone will disappear quite early but then they will be short of helpers to clear up! Sunday we are doing all the jobs which have not got done all week (!). Tomorrow I am at Eldest’s business in the morning and in the afternoon I will be doing home jobs. I can honestly say I am pleased when this week is over! Next week we are back to a normal week although DH and The Boys next weekend are away for their Christmas Present at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed. Us three Girls are getting together on Saturday for dinner and a movie night.
After that we have a few weekends free to do anything we want and jobs, of course, before we are away, can’t wait. We are having dinner with some good friends and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be good that evening and we can sit outside! The above picture was last year when we sat out, we do manage it about once a year!
To add to all the chaos this week, it is also Election Day in the UK. We have all voted! I am not political on my Blog but I am worried about the next five years with a Government change and, if they are honest, I think anyone who runs their own business will be too. However as with everything else happening around the World there is not a lot you are able to do about it so I am trying to ignore it and carry on. I, for a long time now, have not watched the news and I have also now stopped reading it too as I think it can be quite detrimental to your mental health. I have decided to focus just on our family, the business and our friends and ignore all external things! Some would say that you should not be like this but for now it is best for me.
I have been able to read some more of July’s Book on my Book Club, above, and am really enjoying it.
Coco has taken to sitting by the back door looking out onto her garden. This was the other morning whilst it was raining
This was Sunday morning! DH was out and I was reading.
Blaze has made himself at home and is very cute. This was when I went in to check up on him whilst Eldest and Girlfriend were out. He was asleep on their bed! No stress there
Whatever you lovely lot are up to this weekend, I hope you all have a good one and the weather is kind.
I am supposed to be off this week from work and getting some nice jobs done as opposed to Work and Home Jobs!! Of course the best laid plans and all that, yesterday I ended up doing some work and a basket full of ironing! But at least it got done.
They were all here on Saturday night for Partner’s Birthday. Sure enough it rained most of the day and it was so wet we could not sit outside, Flaming June!!! I did get her cake made though.
Even if I do say it myself, it tasted good and it came out a very light cake!
I decorated our dining table for the evening.
As it was also Father’s Day on Sunday DH and Eldest had their presents too as well as Partner’s.
Honey came as well so Coco had a friend to play with although they both ended up in their crates for a little while for them to calm down a bit. It would have been great for them to both be running round outside which they did get to do for a short while before it rained again.
Has it stopped raining yet Mom? (I still think she is part Kangaroo!!!!)
Jayne and I are out for Lunch today for our Birthdays. Can’t wait.
Well after a bit of a wrangle and a lot of finger pointing WordPress did eventually sort out the issue with my Blog, which was of their doing not mine!!!! I like how whenever you are dealing with Help Desks that the first thing they say is well it is your equipment/software/how you are using the thing! It happens often here when you ring British Telecom the first thing they say is that it could be your telephone and if so then you have to pay! Like not being able to make calls is anything to do with a handset I have in our home!!!! Give me strength!
Anyhoo it looks like it is back to normal for the moment!
We managed to get some more jobs done in the garden and here are quite a few pictures from the weekend. We look as if we are going to have one of those summers where we get a few nice days amid lots of rain again! It helps the garden because as you will see the plants are loving it and are very green, not so good for us who want to sit outside and enjoy some sunshine. We did sit out on Sunday for a while which was nice. Eldest, Partner, The Girls and Little Man came for Sunday Lunch and then Youngest got back too. It was lovely afternoon and Coco played ball with her two Boys which she loved and did not have a sleep at all during the day, so by Sunday evening she was absolutely wacked!!! Here are the garden pictures.
My Lavender in its pot.
This is my Clematis which flowers during the Autumn/Winter. I thought it had died last year but left it and it has gone mad this year and now looks very healthy!
My Tomato Plants
This is Coco’s Viewing Point!
My third Rhododendron in flower
This varigated tree, above and below, started off as a little stick which I planted and it has now grown into this lovely tree. It is not very big but provides a lovely dappled shade on our patio during the summer.
The Squirrel always tries his luck on the bird feeders but they are squirrel proof so he ends up sitting on top of the feeder hanger. Treacle used to hate him so much and yet Coco does not bother about him in the garden, she just watches him running around!!!!
My fox glove. Love the pink but I did have a lemon coloured one but it did not seed itself!
I love Hydrangeas but they do not like our soil, so we decided to put one in each pot and I am hoping they will do well in them.
This week our weather is a bit of sunshine but still lots of rain. Saturday is the same and it is Eldest’s Partner’s Birthday so they are coming to us and we are having a Takeaway! We were hoping to sit outside but that does not look like it is going to happen! It is my Birthday next week so we are combining the two events and Sunday is Father’s Day, so celebrations all round. My Mom thought it was great when my Birthday was June because she thought I would have all my Birthday parties outside. Well over the years I had parties I think I made two or three outside the rest were inside because, you guessed it, it rained!! They call it “Flaming June” but for us it is the annoying kind not the hot kind!!!!
Latest picture of Little Man, the one above I love. He has started to roll. The one below is when he rolled in his sleep!! When I put him in his Moses Basket on Saturday he was starting to roll!!! Won’t be long before he is up on his knees and crawling. Eldest was walking properly well before his first Birthday and I think Little Man will be taking after him!
I have done really well with home and work jobs this week; got them all done and am keeping up to date with them too. It always stresses me out when I get behind with things so at the moment everything is a-okay!!!
I will show you pictures of Saturday next week. Still have some jobs left in the garden to do but of course it is an ongoing job!! I hope you lovely lot had a good weekend and a good week to come.
Well we have made it to the middle of the week relatively unscathed! It is Half Term here in the UK for the children and the weather is, as usual, mixed. It has been raining on and off yesterday and today. We were busy yesterday with meetings at the Accountants and then I was sorting paperwork out in the afternoon.
Family Picture Day! Everyone managed to sit still, including Honey!
Honey is very protective of her humans, especially Little Man!
Coco has been bed hopping today, Youngests and then ours!!!
Today I have been busy this morning finishing the paperwork I started yesterday and I was then at the Garage. Tomorrow I am going over to see them all and Little Man and we are going to be doing some baking! I hope they are ready, as I am a messy cook! I do clear up after myself but it usually looks like a bomb has gone off in the kitchen when I am cooking or baking!! I will hopefully show you the results tomorrow!
Friday is going to be home jobs day and again grocery shopping and then the weekend we are hoping to get some more of the garden sorted. Again photographs when we have finished. The weather is supposed to be nice and warm over the weekend so I am also hoping to get quite a bit of washing done and out on the line to dry.
Finally it is all done, well a few things left that I need DH to help with, mainly the light fittings. Being 5’4″ tall I cannot reach them but DH at 6’2″ who also has long arms can get them down without a step ladder!!! Also the pictures we have on the wall up our staircase even DH needs a ladder for that, they still need cleaning but everything else is done. It has been polished, dusted and washed to an inch of its life, here are a few pictures of our home and although you can’t really tell it is very clean!!!!!
Our Dressing Room, the bag on the stool is waiting for the winter dressing gowns to go in to store for the summer. The weather over the last few days has been nice and warm so time to swap over.
My hanging rail which looks so much tidier now. The pink hangers are new and fit the rail so much better.
Our Room and the tail of Miss Floof!
Youngest’s Room with Miss Floof’s bed.
Eldest’s Room, now my sewing space which I have had a tidy up of but still need to do quite a bit.
This is what Coco does, when I am cleaning she follows me round from room to room!
This is the airing cupboard which, like the room, needs painting which we will hopefully get done this year.
Our Den, which is our office, and in particular my desk with Miss Floof’s basket next to it.
DH’s desk which is not as big as mine, but he does not spend all day here like I do.
I spent quite a while in here decluttering things and tidying things up especially these shelves. I did do the filing cabinet but need to get all the papers from the business year out to store so will have a second go at tidying those then.
It is a nice day today so Miss Floof had her lunchtime biscuit outside.
Our Dining Room. Everything has been polished and all the glasses and pots in the dresser have been washed.
Our Sitting Room, again everything polished, dusted and washed. As it is nice I have the windows open to let in some fresh air, something we have not done for a long while due to it being cold and very rainy.
DH and I went through the books and donated quite a few to the Charity Shop and the above shelf is my TBR!!! I know, I need to get reading!
This is looking into our Laundry and those are my quilts which I have on display which are going to be washed and the winter dressing gowns.
Our Breakfast bar and one side of the kitchen.
The cooking side of the kitchen and the door into the garden is open so Miss Floof can run in and out!
This is my spice rack and where I cut vegetables and things. I bought the new spice jars which fit better on the shelves and they can hold one jar of herbs and spices. I saw them on Instagram and liked them but the while labels they did not have all the names, so I used Eldest’s label maker. DH is going to take the white labels off and I will replace them with the black labels so they are all the same.
You will notice that the kitchen, laundry, den and downstairs bathroom are very white! This is the painting we did over Easter and it now looks very bright and clean!
We did do quite a lot of decluttering and must have taken over fifteen bags to the charity shop and still have quite a bit to do espcially the attic things. Our Garage is the next big project and we do have a few weekends to get that, the garden shed and of course our garden done and sorted. All four of us went through clothes that we had stored in the attic in the vacuum bags and got rid of quite a lot and now only have things that we are definitely going to wear in there. Still there is quite a bit still to do. During our Village Carnival week when DH is out every evening, I will be sorting boxes and things out. My plan is to move our sofas back in the sitting room, one to the window and one to the bookshelves and create a large area to have the boxes stacked and plan to go through them all then.
I also have other things to sort out like old pictures from both sides of our families. They are currently stored in a clip box to keep them safe but I am thinking about getting some albums or scrap books to put them into, but that will be a job for winter I think. As the weather is getting better the garden will be our priority.
I still have curtains and cushion covers to wash but want to dry them outside and am waiting for a nice warm, sunny day so they can go out on the line to dry. Also waiting for a lovely sunny, warm day will be all the baskets and bins and Coco’s baskets which I wash outside and again let them dry in the sun.
I need to clean and tidy my car and give it a wash too and our driveway and front garden need a little bit of attention but again I am hoping that the weather getting better I will be able to get a lot done. I hate doing the Spring Cleaning but love it when it is done!!!
Last week passed in a flurry of work and hopsital/doctor appointments. You get there early because of parking issues, then early for your appointment but then they are over an hour late! So it takes up almost half a day! Today is a Bank Holiday here in the UK and DH is still at the swimming event (!) and I am just doing little bits and pieces at home. DH also has a few weekends coming up for other swimming events so they are being set aside to do some more quilting. I have a spa and hair appointment this week as well as work here and at Eldests and the usual home jobs and grocery shopping to do. DH is at home all next weekend so I am keeping everything crossed that the weather is going to be good and we can start the garden.
Last week was busy with work but I seem to have gotten behind with home jobs, partly because I am decluttering as well as trying to Spring Clean too! At the weekend DH helped alot with the jobs and we got the back of our home done, ie the kitchen, laundry, downstairs bathroom and our den which is our office. We started on the sitting room but only got three bookshelves cleaned but we did sort out the books too.
We also got to see Eldest, Partner and Little Man on Saturday. Do you know what, whenever we start a job something else happens which means we have to stop and sort something out. On Saturday a bird got into Eldest’s office at his garage business! It managed to get itself out again but then DH and Eldest were blocking up holes where they think it got through! I mean really!!!
Three Pictures of Little Man, laughing and smiling.
Already in our pram wrapped up to take The Girls to school because guess what? It is raining again today!
Daddy asked him if he was okay? He is!!!! 🙂
We have a very busy week this week. Been working all day today and I have a huge basket of ironing to get through. Tomorrow DH has to get his windscreen replaced as a stone hit it and it now has a huge crack in it (!) so I will be running him round, I also have lunch with another friend, who is also called Sue tomorrow and DH has a meeting in the evening. Wedensday Miss Floof is having a Spa Day and boy does she need it although it is due to be cold most of this week which is just typical when I get her hair cut! I will also be at Eldest’s to do his work. Thursday I have a hair appointment (we both need a haircut!) and then DH has another meeting in the evening but this time by Zoom. Friday will be home jobs and grocery shopping and this coming weekend DH is at home. I know two weekends without a swimming event who would have thunked it! My aim is to get the Spring Cleaning finished and also spend some time tidying our garden, if it is not raining again!
4th, 5th & 6th of May is a long weekend for us but DH has a swimming event on, on all three days, so I will be doing some sewing and perhaps getting some more decluttering jobs done at home as well. I am really hoping that Spring will appear soon and some warmer temperatures because we still have the heating on at home!
When I have done the cleaning and it is all tidy again I will show you some pictures. I have been watching some Instagram reels of women spring cleaning their homes and I find it fascinating to see everyone’s version of spring cleaning. Also quite a few of decluttering and I do find that inspiring. I think we are all guilty of keeping hold of things, I know I am but I am also good at letting things go too. We have already taken quite a bit to the local charity shop which is for Cancer and they have sold quite a bit, so I am now on a mission to sort more out!
I hope you lovely lot had a wonderful weekend a great week to come.
So Saturday dawned early with rain, again, and DH was off to the swimming event. This event is a special one as it is for a charity for people with cerebral palsy. What these swimmers over come to get in the pool and swim is just amazing. I got up early too to make dinner and finish my ironing before heading to see Little Man and the family. Got there at about 1.30pm and had a lovely afternoon with them all. DH also made it after the event to see them and we left to come home about 6.30pm. We had dinner and got some things cleared up and as we had been up early went to bed early and DH decided to have a bath! Unusual in our home as he and the Boys tend to shower every day.
I got into bed and was watching TV and promptly fell asleep. I had my phone next to me on our bed by accident as I usually put it on my night stand and you can imagine my surprise when it rang at midnight! It was Eldest. He had been changing Little Man and found that one side near his groin was hard. When Eldest was nine months old he had a hernia down there which was repaired by a little opearation during one day. He has always known about this as I have told him and so was aware of the signs and asked me if I thought it was this and I said probably as it is very common in little boys. Anyway they wanted to take him to Children’s A&E just to be safe, so DH and I went over to look after the Girls, who were fast asleep, whilst they all went to the hospital. They got there at 12.45am and then had to wait of course. DH managed to nod off on the sofa and I was watching TV quietly.
Anyway they saw the Doctor who said that It could be a hernia and it can run in families but as he is nine weeks old it may repair itself, ie as he grows, without an op like Eldest had. They are just to keep an eye on things and have certain things to look out for. Now every time we had to take the Boys to A&E (it was not many) as soon as they got in there and saw the toys they perked right up and were laughing and playing. Well Little Man did the same, as soon as he arrived he woke up and was busy looking around at everything and smiling! So obviously that runs in the family too!!!
The Stand at The NEC, they are there all week.
They got back at 4.00am and we had drinks and then we got home at 4.30am when the birds were starting to sing! We went back to bed until 10.00am and then DH left for the NEC to set up the exhibition for this week! So all the jobs I had planned for yesterday went out of the window and now it is the start of the week. Needless to say I am feeling very tired today! I have been working all day and have some jobs to do tonight whilst DH is out at a swimming meeting!
Coco managed to find her ball which had been outside all winter!
DH did get the lawn mown yesterday as it has finally dried out. Coco was in her element racing around whilst DH was mowing. We also got some rubbish thrown away and tidied up the shed and we are hoping that this coming weekend is going to be nice to carry on getting things tidy. I will get some pictures. This morning we have had all range of weather; rain, sleet, sunshine and high winds!!! I really don’t like April!!!
Eldest and the Fire Crew got called out to try and get a bird out of a home’s chimney. They could hear it in there and fortunately it was not lit. By the time they got there the bird had fallen down the length of the chimney and appeared in their room! Here he is looking very mucky, he is actually a Barn Owl which are normally brown and white!
I hope you lovely lot had a wonderful weekend and a great week to come.
After what seems like years of rain this Winter, we finally had some sunshine on Saturday and it was so nice. Of course it was frosty the next morning and cold but that did not matter, we saw the sun!!!
I ran out of time to put any bulbs into the pots in Autumn so there is a distinct lack of flowers coming up but the Primulas and the Snowdrops are flowering, as well as the Christmas Roses.
Still need to do a lot of tidying in the garden but definitely when the weather is better, I am a fair weather gardener!!!
Coco had a very busy weekend which she will tell you about tomorrow!!
Tobey pictures. The one above was first and the one above that was after the bath!!!
DH was out all weekend at a swimming event and I got some jobs done although yesterday was a wash out as I was so tired! I spent the morning reading my book, had a bath, cooked dinner and then watched a little TV. Fortunately this week is a normal business week as well as visits to see Tobey and all the other things I normally do too. I really could do with an extra two days in a week, although we do have one extra day this week! Normally I would not work on February 29th but do some quilting or reading but as it is Thursday I will be helping out at Eldests, c’est la vie!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and good week to come.
Hugs & Love, Susie & Coco xx
