Paperwork up to my Ears!!!

files-1614223_1920

Sorry for lack of posts but Monday and Tuesday flew by with mounds and mounds of paperwork!!!  Monday I also had an appointment at our local hospital for a check up but the parking is so bad you either have to go two hours before hand to try and get a parking space or you get your DH to drop you off and pick you up again!!

When we got back we had to do a lot of paperwork for the swimming club!  It is the annual quality submission and I had got most of it done but then DH had to do some of it as he is Chairman.  We didn’t finish until 9.00pm and I got caught out again with how light at night it is and couldn’t believe it was 9.00pm!!!!!

Yesterday DH and I were busy all day doing the Books for our Business and getting all the budgets and financial things set.  We have had to upload new accounts software as our Government has now decided that all communications with them now have to come through the software which has caused another set of issues.  We managed to get the software loaded and I have now done June’s figures onto it so hopefully we won’t have any problems.  The fist challenge will be when we have to do the first communication which will be in September!!!!!

Treacle has loved it because Daddy has been at home for two days!!!  The weather has been dreadful over the last few days with constant rain so she has not enjoyed being dried every time she comes in!!!!   The forecast for the rest of the week is hopefully sunny and warm and Saturday it is supposed to be really hot!!!  We have a bit more work to do in the garden and then Sunday it is the start of Carnival in the Village.  I won’t be going as I have some projects to finish quilting!!!!

I am so happy to have got those two big paperwork jobs completed.  If we don’t get it done then it just bumps into other jobs and then we get behind!!!  Tomorrow I have got house jobs to do and grocery shopping and Friday I have to meet some people for them to do some jobs before the Carnival!!!

I hope your week is going well.

Summer Sunday.

We have managed to get into the garden this morning, before the deluge of rain and thunderstorms which are due to hit us later today and tonight!!!!  It is very warm today but no sunshine but at least we got to tidy up the garden and get the grass cut.  I thought you might light to see how it looks and the flowers which are out at the moment.

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Hugs, Susie xx

Treacle, Thursday & Friday!

Good Morning BlogWorld I know we have missed a few days but we have been so busy.  Here am I, above, on Mom’s knee yesterday as it was her Birthday!!!!!  We shared some Popcorn as Dad and Boys were all away and busy so it was just her and I!!!

Although it was Mom’s Birthday I got some treats when my food delivery arrived!  I am always envious of Molly as she gets lots of things to try and now my foody people are doing the same. So far I have tried the Training Treats and I really like them.  I don’t need the weight control of course, as my Doctor says I am in perfect condition but I am sure they will taste nice and the pouch is wet food which I have never had, so that will be different to try.

Mom has been washing up a storm now that her new washing machine has arrived including all the beds and I was with her when she was unmaking them, any excuse to snuggle in the bedding!

So after a very busy few days I am just busy relaxing now that Mom is working at her desk this morning!!!!!

Thank you Treacle you have a snooze now!  I went to the quilt shop that is closing at the end of this month and got a few things which were reduced and I thought I would show you what I got.

My purchases.

Thread was on offer and so were the needles.

Fat Quarters were on offer.

I always buy a new blade for my rotary cutter when I see them.

The material I got was £7 a metre which is half price to what it normally is.  I just love the dog footprint material.

I just love the colours in this otter material.

And I love this beach fabric.

I don’t know what I am going to make with it yet but it will go into my stash until a project comes up.

I have finished the blocks for Kathleen Tracy’s Block of the Month and in July we will get the instructions of how to put it together.  I have used scraps and bits to make the blocks so I hope they look good together when it is finished!!!!!

June 20th!

I had a lovely peaceful day yesterday and then went out in the evening to Piccolino in Nottingham for dinner with DH, Eldest and Fiance as Youngest is away for the week on his first training week at the Head Office so he will be home tonight and we are going out with him tonight as Eldest and Fiance couldn’t make tonight!!!!  That’s okay I get to go out twice!!!!!  Not doing my diet much good though!!!

Tonight we are going to The European in Derbyshire, which is another lovely little Italian Restaurant (above).

I have house jobs to do today and grocery shopping and then DH is out all day again tomorrow commentating, so I have errands to run tomorrow morning and then will get back and do some more quilting.  The weather here has been better yesterday and today with the sun shining after all the rain from last weekend and the beginning of the week but it is still cool and not as warm as it should be for Summer!

Today, of course, is the Longest Day and it was getting light at 3.30am (Yes I was awake to hear the birds start their dawn chorus!!!!) and it won’t get dark until about 9.45pm so a very long day!  Of course that means that the nights will, although slowly, start to draw in again, Noooooooooo!!!!!  We are hoping that the weather is going to be okay on Sunday so we can get into the garden as we have not been able to do anything over the last couple of weekends because of all the rain!!!!

Whatever you are up to this weekend I hope you have a great time.

Hugs & Love, Susie xx

Sometimes you just need to see a picture of sun, blue sky and clear water!!!!!!

An Entertaining Week!

Fiancé’s Mom and I went out for breakfast this morning after the school run for her!!!  We have managed to find a lovely little Tea Shop in one of the local villages and they do some lovely food and their cakes are to die for, not that I have any!!!!

Yesterday Treacle was at the Vets for her annual checkup and booster injections.  She got a clean bill of health and all she was bothered about were the treats the Vet always gives them afterwards!!!!

I then had to go to the Dentist as I had chipped a tooth which he sorted out in about two minutes but took me half an hour to get there and then back again and waiting to see him!!!!

In the evening DH had a swimming meeting at one pool and I had a swimming meeting at the other pool!!!!  Of course as it is this time of year it is staying light until about 9.45pm so of course I think there is loads of time left in the day when in fact it was bedtime!!!!!

Finally our builder has been here doing a few repairs on our roof and steps!!!  It has been a busy old week and it is only Tuesday!!!

I hope your Tuesday is going well, Treacle is here tomorrow!!!!

Susie’s Monthly Friday Book Club.

Sorry this post is a few days late but Friday last turned into a bit of chaos and ended with me having afternoon tea with my good friend Jayne whose Birthday was last week.  We usually try and go out for lunch to celebrate our Birthdays (a week apart) but she and I are too busy, so we are going to try and go next month.

Anyway on to this month’s book – George R R Martin’s prequel to his amazing Game of Thrones series “Fire and Blood” about Daennerys’ ancestors The Targaryens.  It is set 300 years before Game of Thrones and begins with Aegon The Conqueror who fashioned the Iron Throne.  It follows the family and shows how we got to Game of Thrones through 736 pages!  As you can imagine it is a long book and I have it in hard back so it will take me a while to get through this but am really looking forward to it as I think Martin is a great story teller, even if he does kill your favourite characters off!!!!!!

There are some lovely illustrations in the book.

I will let you know how I get on with it.  My only problem with the book will be that it is so big I will have a job reading it when I am in the bath!!!!!!!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend a looking forward to a good week.

We hope you have a lovely day and love you lots!

#TBT.

#TBT to 2005 and Eldest’s tenth Birthday and Youngest was six!!!!

The Boys were together on Tuesday of this week and the way they were with each other just reminds me of the above age, they seem, despite now being 24 and 20, to revert to being 10 and 6!!!!!!!!  It is lovely to see though and I love it when they are both here with DH and we are together at home again!!!

It is the fourth day of heavy rain and it is still quite cool!!!!  I know the gardens needed it but I am quite fed up with it now.  I started to get home jobs done today and then work intervened so I have got half done!!!!!!  I am having another one of those “the Universe has it in for me this week again”!!!!!!

My new washing machine has arrived, yeah!  Out of all the appliances we have in our home my washing machine is the one I miss the most when I don’t have it working.  I can cope without all the others like the dishwasher and even drying the clothes but my washing machine is a must!!!!  DH just needs to plumb it in and I can start to clear the mountain of clothes, bedding, towels etc that are waiting!!!!

So what is a little dog to do but relax in your basket and have some extra snoozes with so much rain!!!!!

I hope you are having a Happy Thursday.

Hugs, Susie xx

Flaming June & Busy!

Yesterday disappeared into work and then errands for work!!  Before I knew it, it was 6.00pm and I hadn’t started dinner!!!

This has all it has been doing since Sunday evening and in fact we have had a month’s rain in three days so as you can imagine the ground is saturated and there are bits of flooding. Living on a hill does have advantages.  I think we were so spoiled last year with the weather which was lovely and warm.  Not too hot just right!  Of course you always hope that it will be the same and unfortunately it isn’t.

This was taken on the same day last year and you can see how blue the sky is!

This is today!  The little bits on the patio and steps are off my tree in the above picture.  It was blowing a gale and heavy rain on Monday evening into Tuesday!

As you can imagine Treacle is not a happy bunny as she cannot be outside all day as normal.  In fact she has gone into hibernation mode!  It has also been quite cold too!

One of my Quilt Shops I go to, in Cromford Derbyshire, is closing!!!!  They are going to sell fabric on line but the actual shop is closing at the end of this month!  I went yesterday to get some things in the sale which I will show you soon, but I am sad, especially as the other quilt shop a little further up the road from this one is also reducing stock!!!  DH keeps saying that I should open a shop near to us as these are closing and there is no actual shop in Nottingham either!!!  It is a huge undertaking though!!!!

We are busy this evening as Eldest is moving jobs and starting his new one on Monday so we are helping to move all his tools, boxes etc to his new job today!!  Then DH has a meeting tonight so he won’t be home until late!  Tomorrow is home jobs day and hopefully the new washing machine will be delivered and Friday we are out at business meetings all day!!!!!

Saturday DH is out all day commentating, so if the weather is like it is now I will be spending the day in my sewing room!!!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone, Treacle is in her basket asleep so will be here next week for The Wednesday Wag!

We Cleaned So Well It Broke!

My very last job for my Spring Cleaning this year was to clean all the machines.  You know the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher etc!!!  DH helped by dragging out the various appliances and then it came to the washing machine. We have had trouble with it for a while where it has been spitting water out of the drawer when it is spinning and a few other issues with it.

Anyway we gave it a thorough cleaning inside and out and then switched it on to do a wash without anything in, to clean the drum!!!  BIG MISTAKE!  Water everywhere and the blooming thing will not now go!!!!  Having looked at the cost of someone to come out and look at it and the cost of any parts (it is way out of warranty!) we have decided that for my Birthday next week I am getting a new washer!!!!!  Grr!

The Swimming Club’s Open went well on Saturday but it was baking hot in the pool all day!!!  We were really glad to get home at 8.00pm after being there from 6.15am!!!!  The swimmers all enjoyed themselves which is the main thing but I was so tired after it.

This week looks as busy as last week.   They came to service the Boiler today and that needs a new part so they need to come back on Wednesday!  It is my good friend, Jayne, her Birthday on Thursday so I have to get her Presents to her and next weekend DH is out all day on Saturday so I think I will be spending the day quilting!  I am hoping that next Sunday the weather will be nice to get in the garden again.  The weekend just gone and the forecast for the start of the week is heavy rain every day and so far it has been right!!!  Not much summer at the moment here in Derbyshire!!!!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and a great week ahead!

Hugs, Susie xx

Thank Goodness It’s Friday!

Well we have arrived at Friday, a little dishevelled, very tired but here!!!!  I know one thing I am very tired of this week is how miserable everyone is!  As my Grandmother always used to say “it costs you nothing to smile” and she is so right but I think everyone just loves being in a bad mood!  Several people this week I have had to deal with cannot even bring themselves to be pleasant!  I always try, even if I don’t feel like it, to be bright and cheerful and say Good Morning and smile but everyone else go around with perpetual scowls on their faces!!!!!  They are all Humbugs!

It has been a busy week with work and other things so I have done well to keep up to date with my work and house jobs and all that!  It is our Year End for our Business so not only is there the normal work to do then I have extra to do for that.  Keeping up to date with everything helps me to not stress, because when I stress I stress about everything!!!!!

DH and some of the others are at Alfreton LC (above) tonight setting up for the swimming club Open all day tomorrow where we will be!!!!  It is due to rain tomorrow so that will help as normally it is a baking hot day and we roast on poolside!!!!  We will get there for 6.30am and probably won’t be home until after 7.00pm!!!  At least we have Sunday to recover!

Sunday is due to be nice and sunny so we will be able to get some more jobs done in the garden and I can get some pictures as the garden is starting to look lovely in its summer finery.

I hope you lovely lot have a wonderful weekend, whatever you are up to.

Hugs, Susie xx
