The Wednesday Wag!

I have been out enjoying the Autumn sunshine although it is getting very cool in the evenings now.  Mom says I am looking very wooly again so I may need a trip for a Spa day!

I have also been snuggling in my basket whilst Mom is working, although she keeps complaining that I snore!  I don’t know what she means!

This is Dora the Duck from my favourite store, Mungo & Maud, although the Boys say she is more like a penguin.  I don’t mind what she is I love playing with her and her squeek has not gone either!!!!

I hope you are all having a very Woofy Wednesday.

Tuesday Already?

At the moment no matter how organised I try to be I seem to get to the end of the week and it is all chaos!  Despite me writing lists and getting things done by the time Friday comes I still seem to have a huge list to get through and lots of jobs still to do!

The weekend was busy trying to catch up and the weather wasn’t too bad and we did get a few jobs done outside.  The weather here is definitely turning and twice we have put the heating on as it has been really cold in the evenings.

Bit of a blurry picture but as you can see the leaves of the trees are starting to fall!

This week would have been Goose Fair, had it not been cancelled because of the Covid situation.  Here are a few pictures to enjoy from our previous trips.

A view of the fair from the top of the Big Wheel.

The Galloping Horses, an old favourite but always busy.

One of two big wheels a the fair.

It is one of our favourite visits, so much missed this year and it was the first date DH and I went on, 34 years ago this week!!!!!  So where have 34 years gone????????????????  Autumn will not be the same without these events!

There is a lot in the media at the moment of how Christmas is going to be this year because of the various restrictions and the fact that it can change from week to week.  We will be at home but a lot more low key than previous years. My Countdown on my blog has now moved from months into days, 87 to be precise, oh my!

We do have some current restrictions and I am falling back on my motto of when we were just coming out of lockdown “if you don’t have to do it, then don’t”!!!!  We are trying to see some friends, it would be just the four of us, for dinner and we have postponed it for a few weeks and will probably then meet at one of our homes rather than go out.  All of us are working at the moment which is important but going out isn’t.

I am determined to be more organised this week, she says!!  Swimming is still continuing at the moment and that is taking up a lot of time.  I was hoping that once it was up and running then things would calm down a bit but that does not appear to be the case and each week brings it’s own challenges!!  I have also broken a tooth which I am getting fixed tomorrow!  Never rains but it pours!!!

I hope you lovely lot are having a thrilling Tuesday!

TBT!

Goodness me it is Thursday already!  Another week almost done and I am racing to catch up with everything again!  No matter how organised I start out the week, I seem to get bogged down by the end of it!

Anyway, enough of the moaning!  I saw this picture the other day when I was searching for something else!

This was 2001, our old home, Eldest was six and Youngest was 2!  The Race Car walker was originally Eldest’s and he kindly let Youngest use it. They could ride it and push it along with their feet or hold on to the back where Eldest is and walk with it!  It was a great hit with both of them.   Of course when Youngest was riding and Eldest was pushing you can imagine the chaos!

My good friend Susan said she had not realised, only having girls herself, how much boys injured themselves, especially after Youngest’s troubles this week.  Little does she know of the amount of times we have ended up in A&E with one or both of them as they have managed to hurt themselves somehow!!!!  However she did say she is learning as her Grandson has got into a few scrapes!  DH and I had their schools phone number permanently in our phones, as we were always get called about some injury they had managed to do!!!

It is swimming again tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday morning (!) but then we have three days off.  The weather looks to be okay, even though it is cooler, to finish those jobs in the garden.  I got the outside umbrella put away after the nice warm days, which was a good job as it has been raining since!!!!  It really is getting to feel like Autumn here now!!!

I hope you are all having a Thrilling Thursday, Friday tomorrow, Yeah!!!!

Also found this!  This is Youngest when he was 13!  Swimming injury!!!!!!!!!

Where Are the Days Going?!!!!

Sorry I haven’t been blogging but the days are just all merging into one and no sooner have I gone to bed, the alarm is going off and it is time to get up!  DH and I went to Barrow in Furness twice last week and the whole day is gone and I have been trying to catch up ever since!

We have been having some lovely warm weather the last two weeks but it dropped very cool in the evenings, however it has now changed to much more like Autumn and it is raining today!!!

The Wednesday Wag!

This is what happens when both Boys are at home!  You are sitting waiting for your dinner and the Eldest Muppet puts his cap on your head, I mean really!  Then Youngest Muppet is taking pictures!

It’s amazing what you will do to get your dinner!

I think it suits me further back on my head, don’t you?

As the weather was wonderful at the weekend Mom and Dad were in the garden and the Boys were helping too.

They were busy trimming some of the trees in the garden and whilst they were not looking I pinched a branch to have a chew on it!

I just need to get hold of the end of it!

It is not behaving so I had to put my paw on it!

This is when Mom shouted at me as I am not supposed to be chewing sticks as I hurt my mouth the last time!  She then came and picked it up and spoilt all my fun!

***********************************

You might have gathered if you read my Blog regularly that the Boys can injure themselves without too much difficulty.  I got a call yesterday to say Youngest was on his way to hospital because of this :

That is a pick tool and he was using it and it slipped and he stopped it with his hand!!!!!

From the X-ray you can see how far it went through and fortunately missed everything and surprisingly there was not a lot of blood and no stitches needed!  He is fine today and gone off to work to see what other damage he can do!

My Boys are both a pair of Muppets!!!!!!!!

Stay safe

Thursday Things.

DH and I had to go and visit a customer yesterday in the Lake District, so left home at 5.00am and got there about 8.00am.  We then went into the local town for breakfast and a cup of tea!  This monument overlooks the town of Ulverston and was erected for Sir John Barrow, who was born there in 1764 and eventually became Second Secretary of the Admiralty.  It was made to look like a lighthouse although there is no actual light in it and it was to remind people of Sir John’s naval history.

It was a long day and we got back around 3.00pm where we finished some more work before having dinner and then off to swimming.  However we have to go back again tomorrow with some more parts!!!  It has been one of those weeks.

Madam spent the day here!  We have had the forecasted warm weather, although it is dropping cold at night, so she was sunbathing on our bed whilst we were out!!  She came down and saw us when we came in blinking as if she had only just woken up!  So that was why there was no Wednesday Wag yesterday.

In fact the whole week has flown by with work and swimming issues.  The swimming looks to be staying the same with less hours for the foreseeable future which is what none of us want, we would like to get back to all our usual days and session times.  I was also speaking to our Accountant yesterday and we were both saying that we don’t see anything changing much and it will probably be like this, this time next year which is slightly depressing.

I seem to be getting an email a day now with Christmas offers.  It is almost like everyone has agreed that it has been such a year that Christmas needs to start now!  I mean they are always early here in the UK but September, that really is early this year!  I was saying though that so far this year we have had bad floods in the UK, the fires in Australia and USA, the locusts in India, the pandemic and probably to add insult to injury we are going to have a dreadful Winter, lots of snow and freezing temperatures!!  I never say this but I will really be glad to see the back fo 2020 although I am not sure that 2021 will be any better!!!

At the moment I am taking it two weeks at a time!  I think that is the longest we can look ahead for as everything seems to change on a moments notice!  My next two weeks?  Swimming!!!!

I hope you are having a Thrilling Thursday, Friday tomorrow!!!

PS  As it is Thursday here is #TBT!  The Boys with Santa in 2005!  Aged 10 and 6, on the steam train at Great Central Railway!

Madam and her Reindeer Ears, she does not look impressed!!!!!

Susie’s Friday Book Club for September on Monday!

I didn’t do Book Club on Friday as it was September 11th.  So just a few days over here is September’s Book Club Book.

Those of you who read my Blog regularly know I am a huge fan of Clive Cussler and since his passing I have, for various gift giving occasionsn asked for the books I have missing from the collection.  So for my Birthday DH and the Boys bought me a few of them.  One of which was the above.

His books are rolling adventures which keep you turning the pages until the end and this one is just the same.  Kurt Austin and his crew are trying to stop a meglomaniac destroying all the oil wells in the world so that the only option left is to use their business of green energy to replace the destroyed wells.  Some new characters are also introduced in the book from NUMA Headquarters as well as all your favourite ones.

His books always make me want to join NUMA, like I always wished I had gone to Hogwarts for school, if only!  I think you very rarely find authors where you like all the books they have written but in Mr Cussler case I have.  I love Stephen King books but I have never been able to get into reading “The Dark Tower” series, for some reason I just don’t like them.

Anyway if you need another book for your “To Read” shelf then you can add this one, I loved it.

I hope you are having a great Monday and will have a wonderful week.

The Wednesday Wag.

It is a lovely warm day here today so I have been out in the garden since early this morning.

I have been getting out of the sun and into the shade by the table outside.

Of course I do come in sometimes and have a quick snooze in my basket by Mom’s desk.  I find a lot of fresh air makes me very sleepy!

Mom says that she thinks I might be moulting at the moment because when she brushed me on Sunday there was a lot of hair coming out and she puts it down to the time of year with Autumn on its way!!!

When it is a little cooler Mom and Dad have said we can go on a long walk, which we haven’t done for a while, can’t wait!!!

I hope you are having a very happy Woofy Wednesday.

Tuesday – Sun Day!

Who can believe that we have a few days where it is going to be really warm again!  The last hurrah of Summer before Autumn really arrives.  I just hope we are able to get the jobs done in the garden whilst it is nice, there is still a lot to do but at this point I am just taking them one at a time.  Otherwise I think I might just get in a tiz with all the lists I have been writing!

We are at swimming again tonight, tomorrow, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning and it is getting to be quite boring for DH and I.  Our Boys don’t swim any more and really when you don’t have a vested interest in the pool it really is not good.   We will be dropping the number of helpers down to two on poolside and hopefully be able to give people more time off, especially as it looks like we will be doing this until Christmas at least.

I did get some quilting done whilst we were away and now need to get on with that, so I am trying to organise things so I have some time at the weekend hopefully to do it, along with all the other things I want to get done.  How do I get more time in a day, anyone know!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know about anyone else but I have a terrible time breaking in new shoes/trainers/boots!  Consquently I hate it having to buy new ones but it has got to the point where I need new trainers for the pool, new boots for winter and new shoes for going out.  No matter how well made they are or expensive or not they always rub my feet and I end up with blisters on my heels!  It is because we all have very narrow feet in our family and therefore shoes never seem to fit properly.  I have bought some new trainers so I will have plasters on my heels by the end of the week!!!!

Treacle is enjoying the last of the summer sunshine outside.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Monday!

Monday again!  It does come round quickly!!!  DH and I were really busy again over the weekend with the swimming sessions.  The Friday night one is two hours and one of the parents has been going to the Chinese takeaway across the road and getting chips for the swimmers for when they come out,  I think it is the only thing keeping them going on a Friday night!

We were also at swimming on Saturday morning and when we got back home doing all the jobs I didn’t get done in the week!!!  It was a manic day and then had to go to the swimming session on Saturday evening too!  By the time we got home I was shattered.

Sunday Girlfriend was competing with Penny.  It was a lovely day and it was so nice to be outside at an event and not to have to wear a face mask!!!  Here are a few pictures of the day.

First session waiting to compete.

Back having completed a double clear round.

Second session, actually on the round.

Over the Jumps!

Fast around the jumps and another double clear!

Overall they came third and fourth which as it is only Penny’s fourth event was really good.  They are competing again next week.  It now looks like we are going to be horse people as well as swimming people!!!!

The weather is beginning to turn here and although they have promised some warm weather hopefully at the end of this week, you can feel that Autumn is starting to make itself known with a chill in the air in the evening and early mornings!

You know I was talking about Christmas?  Well when I was doing my grocery shopping at the weekend there were mince pies, Christmas puddings and cakes and other Christmas goodies in the bakery aisle!!!  It is September 7th people!!!  Is it going to be like this from now until Christmas?  Or is it because they think everyone has had such a bad year that we all want to get into the Christmas spirit now?  Literally or figuratively?!!!!!!!!!

I hope you are having a good Monday?
