Thursday!

_101980606_mediaitem101980605

Well with all the news about the virus and the fact that here in the UK the peak is between ten and fourteen weeks away, which takes it to the week of my Birthday in June!!!  It really does feel like the sky is falling!!  They are saying that 95% of people in the UK will get it which makes me wonder why we are bothering to read the news, you just may as well wait and see what happens!!!  Of course we as a family are doing everything we can not to get it but how far do you go?

We already have had business meetings and exhibition’s cancelled or postponed and one big swimming event has been cancelled.  DH is out this weekend at another swimming event but we wonder if people will just not turn up.  I am due to go out with the Tangent Ladies on a river cruise on Saturday afternoon and I am due to go over to Nottingham in the morning, but you now start to second guess yourself as to whether you should be doing any of it!!!  I think you just have to take each day as it comes.

The following weekend is Mother’s Day here in the UK and I have said to the Boys we will do something at home.  They have in the last few years taken me out for breakfast but this year we will stay in!

Anyway I have far more important things to worry about; like our toaster which has now decided to launch the toast into the air!  Sometimes Treacle is very lucky and it lands on the floor, however this morning it landed on the counter top!  Now can anyone tell me why this perfectly good toaster which has never done this before, is trying to be the first toaster to launch toast into outer space?  I mean really?

This week saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex complete their final events as senior Royals and then the Duchess flew back to Canada.  There has been a lot written since their announcment over why they have left and we, as a country, are still being accused of being racist against the Duchess which I take great exception to.  Only they know the real reasons why but my personal view is that the Duchess has a view of what it was going to be like to be Royal and I don’t think it lived up to her expectations.  However I do wonder in a few years time whether they will come to regret their hasty decision like the Duke & Duchess of Windsor did!

March has definitely roared in this year, it was blowing a gale last night and lashing the windows with rain and we had some hail today!!!  Hopefully it will go out like a lamb at the end of the month!!!

As you can tell from the picture above Treacle is really worried!!!!!!!!

The Garden is Waking Up.

We have had a few days in recent weekends where the weather has been okay for DH and I to get out and do some tidying in the garden.  One major job was to put all our tools etc back into our shed, out of the Boys Den, now that our neighbours have finished their building works.  This meant that the patio furniture is out sooner than normal but if the weather is still good we need to re-stain them anyway!

The Spring flowers are all flowering and it is so good to see some colour back in the garden after the winter.

These tiny daffodils always do well in the pots and the Violas have flowered again.

IMG_3661

The Violas in these pots have not done as well over the winter.

IMG_3662

Only eight of the twenty five big daffodils have survived the wretched squirrel!!! Grr

Our Reindeer and Baby have moved to their summer qurters near the beautiful lemon primroses.

It has been wonderful to see the sun over the last few days as well, after all the rain we have had over the last few months.

One big job to do in the garden is to trim the plants/bushes and trees which have had a growth spurt over the winter with all the rain!!! One side DH and I can do but the other side we need the help of the Boys and a long weekend!!!  I will show you pictures when we have done those jobs.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!!

Busy Few Days.

DH and I were up very early on Thursday to get to Crufts to avoid the traffic.  Despite all the news about Coronavirus, it did not stop people turning up to show and see all the wonderful dogs.  Girlfriend’s Mom has been very busy with their two Pugs, Ralphy & Dotty, taking part in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.  Ralphy had done so well he had been invited to Crufts for him to show what he has learnt and to take part in his Bronze examination!  Ralphy is just over a year old and has been doing really well with his training, however Dotty has outstripped him and already on to her Silver award!!!

Here are some pictures of the day.  Ralphy had two practice sessions and then the main examination was in the afternoon.

The test involves many aspects one of which is being still whilst being groomed and also being still whilst they are examined so that they are well behaved when they go to the vets.  Here is Ralphy with Girlfriend’s Mom being groomed.

Obviously the Stay without being held is a very important part of the course.  Here is Ralphy on his practice.

Walking to lead without being distracted by other dogs, people etc.

The picture above is the actual test and one of the main parts is the stay from a distance for one minute.  This was Ralphy’s most challenging part but he sailed through with flying colours.

All the dogs who took their Bronze exam.  Three did not pass due to them moving at the stay.

Ralphy passed and is now onto his Silver course!  Getting his Certificate and rosette.

Ralphy and Girlfriend with his Rosettes.  Well Done Ralphy!!!!

In between times DH and I got to have a look around the Halls, there were lots of people there.  Of course we had to visit the Discover Dogs area and see the best dogs ever booth.

IMG_3705

When you have had a particular breed for years you always feel that they are the best dogs ever!!!!  As much as we saw other breeds at the show and got to see the dogs and talk to their owners we really don’t think that we would ever not have an Airedale!!!!

IMG_3710

This is Ami who was showing later in the day but was on the Discover Dogs stand for a while.  She was lovely but a little tired with all the people coming to talk to her!!!

We bought some treats for Treacle from her Food supplier, Burns, but there was not much else that we wanted to get her.  It was a good day and lovely to see Ralphy do so well.  We got there at 6.30am and left about 4.00pm before the rush to get out and did okay.  Friday we had a business meeting which took all day and got home around 8.00pm, so two very long days.

The weekend DH was commentating on Saturday evening but we managed to get some errands done and Sunday the weather was good so we got some gardening done too!!!  I will show you pictures of that tomorrow.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and will have a good week.

Mom & Dad are off to Crufts tomorrow.  Crufts is one of the longest running dog shows and began in 1886 by Charles Cruft who was a general manager for a dog biscuit manufacturer.  He used to travel around Britain and Europe to dog shows with his products and found a need for a higher level of dog show.  The first show in 1886 was just for Terriers but by 1891 all breeds of dogs competed.

I can’t go as only dogs who are invited can go but Girlfriend’s dog, Ralphy the Pug, is going with his puppy group, so they are all going to see him and the rest of the day.  Mom says it should be fun as she has always wanted to go.

Of course if I was going I would win!!!!!

054-IMG_1893

I don’t mind as Eldest is at home looking after me and we have lots of fun when he does.  Mom says she will get lots of pictures to show you all.

She has been busy all day working and getting home jobs done as she will be out all day tomorrow and is staying away tomorrow night with Dad as they are at a business meeting on Friday so won’t be back until the evening.  It has been a bit of an upside down week so far!!!!!

I hope you are having a very Woofy Wednesday.

Tuesday & Birthday!

It’s Tuesday and that means lots of work!!!  I also have to re-arrange the week as we are busy Thursday and then at a business meeting on Friday so we are doing things a little backwards this week!!!  Hey ho keeps me on my toes I suppose!!!!

Anyway to nicer things; it is Molly’s 8th Birthday today, Happy, Happy Birthday Molly.  She and her Mom have had a wonderful day with doggie ice cream and presents and I am sure Molly has had the best day.  Treacle is taking notes ready for her Birthday in May!!!!!

I have set up my sewing back on my desk.  I just have to remember where everything went and how I operated!! I still have some things all over the place, the attic, under our bed etc but I am sure when I get set up it will all be sorted out and come back to me!!!!!!

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Monday!

30acd4c065c7c5a09b7fb4a136223439

Good grief it’s Monday already?!!!!  Where do the weekends go?  DH and I were supposed to go to the cinema on Friday evening but by the time everyone was back from work, Youngest walked in after a week away training with a suitcase full of washing and I had done dinner and the washing and ironing it was late!!!!

Saturday morning we were due to go out and DH started a job putting a new disc in my computer which we use for business.  It was a five minute job which turned into two hours!!!!!!  We did go out eventually but didn’t get all the jobs done!!!  We went to our friends home for dinner in the evening and had a lovely time.

Sunday morning was actually sunny although cool but we managed to get out in the garden and do some tidying and also get everything put back.  Our neighbours had their conservatory replaced so needed to come around our side to do some of the work so we emptied our little shed and put everything in the Boys den.  So we swept the shed out and then put all the garden tools back in the shed and also had a tidy up as well.  To get all the tools out of the Boys den we had to get the patio furniture out so that is now out.  Normally we would not get it out this early but it is a good thing because if we get a nice warm day we can re-stain it all.  I will have a few pictures tomorrow hopefully!

Following on from our big attic tidy last year, DH and Youngest got Eldest’s memory boxes out for me to go through and tidy and get their memory books up to date.  Once I have done his Youngest’s will come out and I will sort them out as well.  Still have a few things to tidy up in the attic but it is so much better than it was.  The garage is an ongoing project especially as DH and the Boys are constantly putting things in it and re-arranging things!!!!  At the moment there is a car engine on a stand in the middle of the garage which both Boys are working on!!!!

Treacle enjoyed the morning outside!

We have a busy week with work but are having a day off on Thursday to go and see Girlfriend’s dog, Ralphy, who has got into Crufts!!!!  So I will be taking my camera and will have pictures to show you.

I hope you are having a good Monday and a great week.
