A couple of TV shows which I have watched for a while are finishing this year, Bones and Grimm. It takes a lot for a show to hold my interest and I tend to go for either out there shows or procedural shows but I don’t watch every one. Bones has been on the air for twelve years and I have read all of Kathy Reich’s books and it will be finishing its final series in a few weeks and I will miss this show. Grimm has not been on the air as long only six years but again it has been a great show to watch.
It was announced on TV the other day that the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer is twenty years old! Oh boy I remember watching this when it was first out, so where did twenty years go?
Then of course who remembers this show? This is actually twenty seven years old (!) and I watched every episode! I can’t say that I understood every episode or even the ending but I hung in there! More depressing is the fact I was twenty five when this first appeared on our screens and now the new Twin Peaks will be on our TV screens in May this year. Are we going to understand the new version? Who knows. I do know that they did repeat the original series on TV and I did start to watch it again and after about the second episode my impression was how slow the story line was! At the time it was really out there and new and different compared to what was on TV then but it really is dated now. Especially after the X-Files which is my favourite of all time and even though it is twenty four years old the episodes are not dated!
I will certainly give it a go but lets hope the episodes move a little quicker!!!This has just started and seems promising, especially as so far some of the women are very much like some of the Moms I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also to make DH and I feel really old Youngest was invited to a party the other weekend which was fancy dress. The theme? The Eighties!!!!!! We were young in the Eighties!!!! No Fair it is now a fancy dress theme!!!!!!!
Today is a lot cooler than yesterday so we seem to be back to winter again (!) and Treacle is snoozing in her basket whilst I am working. Tomorrow I have lots of errands to run and then house jobs in the afternoon and I am seeing Jayne for a coffee, yeah! I hope your Thursday is going well.
Hugs, Susie x
Look the sun is out and I am allowed outside for longer than five minutes!!!! I am making sure there are no cats or squirrels around.
I even managed to find an old tennis ball from last year in the garden. Mom said it was too dirty and yucky but I think it is just right.
Mom couldn’t resist taking pictures of the flowers which are around at the moment. The little primrose which was a self set and her Christmas Roses, although Christmas was three months ago!!!!!
Mom says I can’t stay out too long as the sun is starting to go down and it is getting cool again! Only a few more minutes please?
Happy Woofy Wednesday
I was going along quite fine last week and then one spanner and another got thrown in and the whole works went out of wack!!!!!!!! Well that’s what it felt like!!! It took me from Wednesday to today to catch up!!!
Anyway enough of that our weather has been great over the last few days, very spring like and it has even got me round to planning my Spring Cleaning. I even managed to get a bit done over the weekend!
Youngest dragooned his brother to help with his documentary he has to do for one of his college assignments which is about cars (!) So on Saturday they were out and about filming and then on Sunday DH and Youngest were down at Mercedes World again filming. This meant that I was able to get the second baby quilt finished on Sunday and just now need to sew the binding on and sew it to the back. Yeah!
Monday I got caught up on my work and a basket of ironing in the evening to get up to date which is a relief!!!! Youngest and DH are out again this Sunday filming so I am hoping to get another full day in of quilting although I will miss National Quilting Day as I have jobs to do 😦 Never mind I will do mine on Sunday.
I hope your last few days have been okay and the weather kind. Treacle is feeling spring like and is far more active and I will need to book her into her spa if the warmer weather stays as she is getting very curly again!
Happy Tuesday everyone.
Hugs, Susie x
As if Quilters needed another excuse to quilt all day here is one for you! National Quilting Day on March 19th 2016. Here is a little about how National Quilting Day started :
In 1989, the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society organized a “Quilters’ Day Out” on the third Saturday of March to celebrate the rich tradition of quilt making in Kentucky. In 1991, National Quilting Association officers were so enthused with the concept and success of “Quilters’ Day Out” that they voted to take it to a national level.
The first National Quilting Day was observed in 1992 and since then it has grown into a global celebration for all quiltmakers and quilt lovers. Helen Storbeck, one of the founders of National Quilting Day, wrote in The Quilting Quarterly, “Groups of quilters were encouraged to hold special events, publishers and shop owners were invited to sponsor promotions especially for quilters and it quickly became a grassroots endeavor with quilters in every part of the country participating. In the first year of National Quilting Day, quilters in other countries asked to participate. They were welcomed with open arms. As our feelings of a community network has evolved to include a world community, it is only appropriate that quilters and quilt lovers everywhere united to give recognition to the special art form.”
Usually I miss it, so am glad I am in time this year! The lambs are starting to appear at the farms around our village and at our local farm shop. They are just so cute.
It is just Treacle and I at home today so she is waiting for the Boys to come home. She has looked at my new medicine ball but has so far stayed away from it, I think as it is so big she does not want to tackle it, in case it fights back!!!!!!
How is your Tuesday going?

It was a busy weekend for all but Youngest did well in the Club competition on Saturday night being in the winning relay team and the Club came first. Sunday he was entered in two events and got a medal for third and a PB and fourth in his second event, so he was pleased. Saturday Fliss, Lee and Evalyn came for the day and it was great to see them.
I have now got to work on one of these for a while!!! From the age of 4 to the age of 16 I did ballet and several times I dislocated both knees and at the time they went back no problem and I carried on. However now I am older (!) I have to be careful what I do as they can hurt which is why I have been doing Pilates. Any hoo the last three months of last year I ended up hurting my knees and since then I have had quite a bit of hip pain in my right side, so I have been seeing a Physio. Today she recommended that I get a balance ball and has given me a few exercises to do to try and ease the pain!!! My biggest problem? Will be keeping Treacle away from it!!!!!!
The weather has been quite nice here today and quite Spring like so hopefully this will continue.
Treacle spent the weekend either in the sewing with me or on our bed snoozing, she loves lazy Sundays!!!!
Still getting through the quilts and have now finished the top for the second baby quilt and I have got the backing cut out, I just need to sandwich and pin it and then get on with the quilting. This baby is due at the end of March so hopefully it will be all done and wrapped before then. I have my other super secret quilt to cut out and piece but again this is not big so should go together quickly. Once that it is done and quilted I will then quilt Youngest’s which is already sandwiched and pinned! Getting through things which is good.
Hope you all had a great weekend.

She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”
― A.A. Milne
Yesterday was March 1st and the first month of Spring and the weather was very kind to us in Derbyshire with the sun shining, although it was cold, it was great to see the sun. The above quote to me really typifies the start of Spring, written by the famous author A.A. Milne who is better known for the Winnie-the-Pooh stories, a huge favourite of mine and our Boys.
The stories are very simple but are a wonderful part of childhood and we really enjoyed reading them to the Boys when they were little.
So as it is Thursday here is a throwback of our Boys with their bikes. They used to take them with us on holiday during the Easter break to Scotland for them to learn to ride without their stabilisers as Auntie Corinne and Uncle Gordon had loads of room at their home in The Highlands.
Been busy today catching up on work and Treacle has been keeping me company in her basket (!) and tomorrow it is house jobs day, ironing and grocery shopping, oh joy! Saturday Fliss, Lee and Evalyn are coming for a visit and Sunday I am going to catch up on those house jobs I have been putting off. Saturday night Youngest and DH are out at a swimming competition so I will be taking the opportunity to finish some of the quilt bindings which need doing.
A friend said yesterday “how come it is March already?” and I cannot believe that we have started the third month of the year, but when I look back on what we have been doing in the last two months It has been crazy, busy! Before we know it, it will be Carnival time in the village and we will be six months through the year and some clown will be telling us how long it is until Christmas (apparently 298!!!!!!!!!). Which reminds me if I need to do any quilting jobs for Christmas I really should start them now!!!
How is your Thursday going?

These are my most favourite toys, tennis balls. I love them. I love my squeaky toys and my soft toys but tennis balls are the best. Anyway Mom tried to get me some and they had sold out 😦 However our good friends Molly & Mackie’s Mom let my Mom know where she gets Molly’s tennis balls from, it’s Ebay!
Mom never thought to look on Ebay, although she should have as we all the know the World is on You Tube and you can buy anything on Ebay!!!!!!
Look what arrived in the mail. They are re-conditioned tennis balls, which means they have been washed, re-pressurised and re-packed like this. Mom ordered 15 for me.
Come on Mom don’t tease me, gimme, gimme, gimme!
Yeah new tennis ball!
Nope I am not going to give it to you to throw for me!
Thank you to Molly, Mackie & Sue for giving us the low down.
