The Wednesday Wag!

IMG_20160301_163005Dad was working from home one day last week and he had a snack with his tea at 4.00pm and they smelt wonderful.  He did give me one to try and it was very nice but he said I couldn’t not have lots of them as they are not doggie treats.  Speaking of which I am still working my way through my Christmas treats.  The ones I like best are the turkey and cranberry ones.

Mom has made an appointment for next week for the Doggies Spa as she says I am looking like this

I don’t know what she means, although when I get wet it is taking rather a long time to dry me.  What we need is one of the drying cabinets that they have at the Doggie Spa, I really like those.

DSC05003It has been raining most of the day but there was a break in the weather and Mom said I had to go outside, I didn’t really want to but I did and the worst thing – there were no cats to bark at!

Have a Woofy Wet Wednesday

Very Cold Weather But….

IMG_20160121_081438This has been what my car has looked like every morning, heavy frost and very cold.  But I just love the patterns of the ice on the window.

The weather is supposed to get a little warmer by the end of the week but at the moment it is really cold but still no snow.  However these days do provide some great pictures.

IMG_20160203_164558The sunset when I was on my way to fetch Youngest from school.  Love the tree in all its bareness!

On March 6th the weather conditions were just right for lots of parts in the UK to see the Northern Lights, especially in Scotland.

Brian Doyle captured the kaleidoscope of colours over Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire

This was taken looking over Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire (from the BBC News Website).  We have had friends who have paid quite a lot of money to go on trips up the coast of Norway and into the Arctic Circle specifically to see the Northern Lights and have not seen them at all!!!  We didn’t see them here in Derbyshire unfortunately.  However as we are going to Scotland for our vacation in a few weeks you never know, we may get to see them then!

Tonight I have a basket of ironing to do but hopefully tomorrow evening I will be able to do some more sewing.

I hope your Tuesday is going well.

Hugs, Susie x

Where Did The Week Go?

Last week disappeared in a rush of work, house jobs, dealing with The Boys and I honestly don’t know where the days went!  I think the Cosmos had something against me!!!!  I have also been going through a period of waking up at 4.00am every day and I am finding it hard at the moment to break the habit.  I have no problem going to sleep but I do have a problem staying asleep!!!

Yesterday was Mother’s Day in the UK and it was very cold and quite dull day weather wise and I think we should move our Mother’s Day to the US one in May when the weather is usually better!  I got lovely cards from the Boys and my gift was this :

Now you may think this is a weird Mother’s Day present but it is something I actually wanted and really do need!  Why you ask well

DSC04823This is our Village Carnival last year and you can see the various tents/canopies for the various stalls, well I have decided to have a stall this year and sell some quilted goods!  This is a huge decision for me, especially putting myself out there and showing the things I have made and in fact asking money for them, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!!  After last year being Secretary for the swimming club and also the quality officer and running the dog show at Carnival and making the teas on the day, it all got a bit too much.  So I decided to stand down from three of the jobs which means I have time at Carnival to do something for me!

The last few weeks I have spent some evenings and weekends making things for the stall and here is what I have so far

DSC05185Christmas Stocking – Never too early to start Christmas shopping!!!!

DSC05184A small lap quilt.  I had all the squares already cut out from a quilt I made previously and just had to sew and quilt it.

DSC05182Doggie Bandannas in small and large

DSC05181Bags, large and small.

DSC05180Needle/pin and sewing books.

DSC05179Chicken pin cushions, they need stuffing and their eyes!

DSC05178Empty hearts which will be filled with lavender.

DSC05177Lavender pillows

DSC05176Mug Rugs.

DSC05175Tissue Holders.

That’s what I have at the moment but I am really having fun making them and using up all my scraps of fabric.  It is amazing what you can make out of really small bits of material.

DSC05173This is the state of Eldest’s room at the moment, but I can find everything I need!

We have ten weeks before Youngest starts his exams, oh boy!  We are looking forward to our vacation over the Easter holidays and I will be taking my sewing as Youngest will be spending quite a bit of time revising, so I will be able to get lots done then.  I also have my commission quilt to do which will also be done whilst we are away.

Swimming has been busy and the Club were at a memorial gala on Saturday and they won!  Youngest posting some great times and coming first in a few of the races so he was really pleased.  Although he has developed a cold over the weekend and is really tired, so I am dosing him up with vitamins so he can get rid of it quickly.  We have swimming again this Saturday evening and on Sunday Evalyn, her Mom and Dad are coming for the day.

Hopefully this week will be a little less chaotic!

Hopefully Spring will arrive soon!
