GOT.

Not I didn’t stay up to watch the first episode of the Final Season of Game of Thrones and surprisingly enough I did not wake up at 3.00am like I have been doing, it was 4.00am instead today!!!!!!!!

Was it worth it?  Not sure yet!  It was good and it was great to see all of the characters in one place, Winterfell, finally after eight years but it was really setting the stage for the final episodes.

Do I have any predictions of what is going to happen?  If it was the book and knowing what has happened in the previous books I would suspect George R.R. Martin would kill off some major characters but not too sure with the TV show.  Who will end up on the Iron Throne?  My prediction is that they will kill Jon Snow off and it will stick this time and Daenerys will rule as Queen of a united land, Cersei will die at the hand of her brother (and former lover).  We only have seven more episodes to wait to see if I am right!!!!

It will be interesting to see what happens in the final book when it is finally released as there are a lot of sub-plots which of course have not been put in the series otherwise it would be going on for years.

Had a busy day today with work and had to pop out and do some shopping for the Easter weekend and then go and see a friend to help with something se needed.  The weather has been sunny but cool but the weekend is due to be very warm which will be great for clearing out the attic!!!!

Have a great week.

Susie’s Friday Book Club.

There are many, many book clubs and despite being any avid reader I have never joined because having talked to people who do belong to Book Clubs they tell me about the books they choose and they sound dreadful to me!!!!  I read to be entertained and escape not to be depressed and it seems that a lot of the Clubs choose “meaningful” books which I am sure would make me feel down!

Now to my question; should I always on my Monthly Friday Book Club only give you reviews of books I have enjoyed or should I tell you the negative about a book I have been reading?

My reason for asking this is the book, below, I have just read and did not enjoy and to be quite honest feel it was mis-described!

I had read an article about this book and it sounded wonderful.  James Pope-Hennessy had been asked to write the Biography of Queen Mary after she passed away and he spent years interviewing and speaking to friends and relatives about her.  Eventually his manuscript was put forward to be read by The Queen, it was approved and duly published.  However he had taken extensive notes and information which did not appear in the book and he said that they should not be published until fifty years after his death.

So his notes about Queen Mary and her life were drawn together and published in this book.  From what I read I expected it to have details about her life which gave you a different view of her and some exciting bits of information which did not appear in the authorised tome!  It didn’t.  In fact every chapter is about Pope-Hennessy travelling and staying with the Royal Families of Europe and various aristocracy in Britain and being told the same thing that Queen Mary was reserved and quite formidable.  Therefore no new information than what was in the original.  The only slightly different bit of information was that she was actually in love with another man before she was betrothed to Royalty but nothing happened and that was it.

It was a great disappointment and in fact I did not finish it, which is not like me at all.  So I am sorry that this is not a good review but hopefully if this book had peaked your interest you may think twice.  If you did want to read it wait for it to appear in second-hand book shops for a fraction of the cost or for your local library to get it in i.e. don’t waste your money!!!!

***********

We, at home, had a fraught start to the day!  DH got up at 5.00am and how a shower and left to go to work.  Youngest got up at 6.30am to get a shower and then I was getting up when he realised we had no water!  He managed to get a stand up wash with what was left in the tank and that was it!  A water main had burst and so we had no water until 2.00pm.  At least it wasn’t Monday morning, I think it would have been worse then!!!

We have home jobs to do over the weekend including Spring  Cleaning our bedroom to get it ready for our new bed which is going to be delivered the week after Easter!  Can’t wait!!!

I hope you lovely lot have a wonderful weekend.

#TBT.

A bit of a different #TBT today.  In 2017 I was busy in our kitchen by the window when I saw something run across the top of our garden but it was too fast to see.  Anyway after a little while it appeared from under the bushes and Youngest managed to get a picture of it, below.  We think it is a Snipe and had obviously gotten tired so touched down in our garden for a rest.  By the afternoon he had left again.

Anyway this morning after having finished cleaning our kitchen at 5.30am, don’t ask, I saw this gentleman in the middle of our lawn!!!!

Again I think he must have gotten tired and decided to touch down for a rest!!!!  After a couple of hours he had departed.

I think there must be some sign for our garden, which only Birds can see, which says Rest Stop!!!!  Perhaps I will have to start charging, tee hee.

I was supposed to meet another friend this morning for coffee but unfortunately her daughter was poorly so she is spending her day off work at the hospital!!!  It always happens.  Although that has meant that I have got a lot done this morning.  Yesterday I just about worked myself to a standstill trying to get work finished and then I had a whole year of business books to be shredded so that the current business year we are in can go away at the end of June.

This is what a whole year of our business looks like shredded!!!  Four and a half bags of shredding which will go for recycling!!!  I was so pleased to have got that job out-of-the-way as it is one of those once a year jobs I really hate doing!!!!

It is also the time of year when I need to start all the paperwork for the swimming club quality mark submission.  It gets reviewed at the beginning of September but I must have it all uploaded before we go away in August, so always aim to have it all done by the end of July.   I decided to start even earlier this year and try to get a head of it and get it uploaded by June.  Well it’s a plan!!!

Tomorrow I have errands to run and the grocery shopping to do and a basket of ironing but this weekend DH and I have no other events on so we can get some of the jobs done around our home and garden, if the weather is kind.  At the moment here in Derbyshire it is very sunny but cool.  Treacle, however is outside enjoying the sunshine.

I hope you are having a very Happy Thursday.

The Wednesday Wag.

We have had quite a few nice days with warm sunshine so I have been out and about and in my garden, Mom has let me have the back door open so I can come and go as I want to.

On Saturday the weather was nice too so Dad, Mom and I went to Chatsworth House for a walk in their gardens.  The Duke always has sculpture displays in the garden each year and this year the theme is the Dog!  Quite appropriate for me.  They also have a new puppy called Henry, who has his own Instagram Account – Chatswoof here https://www.instagram.com/chatswoof/?hl=en.

Here are pictures of my walk.

Come with me for a walk around Chatsworth Gardens.

This is one of the Dog Statues at the head of the Emperor Fountain.

Mom loves this picture of Chatsworth House and the grounds and the vista.

The Daffodils were all out

Also some statues of deer, although there is a big deer herd in the main grounds of Chatsworth.

More Daffodils  appearing.

We stopped half way ground for a break and of course the odd biscuit or three!

Any more biscuits Mom?

One of the new garden displays with water.

Come on Mom I need to explore over there.

The house from the side.

Biscuit stop!

Another of the dog statues and I thought this was real so started barking at him to warn him off, Mom and Dad just laughed!!!!

Chatsworth in the sunshine.

It was a lovely morning walking and then we had lunch at Chatsworth before heading home.  Mom and Dad have a few more weekends free so we can go for some more long walks exploring.

I hope you are having a very happy Woofy Wednesday.

Ladies Who Breakfast!

Jayne and I were not Ladies Who Lunch today but Breakfast instead at The Apple Tree (above) as Jayne had appointments the rest of the day, but it was a great couple of hours sitting and chatting.  In fact we have said we shall have a day out in Nottingham in the Summer just to have a look round and lunch, so we don’t get to November when we will then be going Christmas shopping!!!  Although the way the weeks are flying by it will soon be November!!!!!!

Thursday last week we had a visit from the Accountants!!!  and the whole day was taken up with that and Friday the company came to service the house alarm and it was Home jobs day!!!  Although I didn’t get that done until quite late in the day as I had had a terrible headache all day and had sat at my desk working as I didn’t feel I wanted to be running round the house cleaning!!!!!

Saturday DH and I had nothing happening so we took Treacle for an extra long walk at Chatsworth (she will tell you all about that tomorrow!).

Yesterday I was catching up on all the work that had been generated by the Accountant’s visit as well as all my normal work!  I actually managed to get it all done thankfully!!!!!

Our new bed and bedside tables will be arriving after Easter, so this weekend (we have another free weekend – amazing!) we will be Spring Cleaning our room and getting rid of anything we don’t need!  We also have some work to do in the garden and I am hoping that the weather will be good too.

I cannot believe that it is Easter next week.  We have ordered the skip to arrive for our Big Attic Clear Out!!!!  In fact I think we have galvanised some other friends to do their attics too.  Jayne mentioned that it is a job that their family will be doing over Easter.  I am just keeping my fingers crossed now that the weather is going to be kind to us!!!!

I hope you are having a Thrilling Tuesday.

The Wednesday Wag.

Well it has been a funny few days with weather.  I have been warm, then wet and now cold again!!!  Mom, of course, got my Airecut and all my lovely warm fur cut off so it is now freezing again outside!

I have to find the sunshine and warmth where I can in our home.  Mom and Dad’s bed is favourite as they have double windows in their room and the sun streams through making it lovely and warm when in fact it is really cold outside!!!!

I was also keeping Mom company in her sewing room on Sunday and it was very cool that day so I had a blanket over me.

I have spent a few days when it has been nice outside with the door open so I can come and go as I please and Dad also got me a new football for outside but the weather is too cool now for the door to be open all the time!

After this coming weekend Mom and Dad don’t have anything on at the weekends so they have promised to take me on some extra long walks, hopefully with the weather being better and not too cold or rainy!!!!

So we have not been out and about very much with the weather being like it is but I don’t mind as I love to sleep next to Mom’s desk all day while she works and I can keep an eye on things!!!!

Have a very Woofy Wednesday.

Scotland Trip.

DH and I went up to Edinburgh again for business last week.  Here in Derbyshire the weather was warm and sunny, in Edinburgh cold and grey!!!!  I managed to get a few pictures whilst we travelled between customer visits.

The road which leaves England behind and Scotland ahead, looking towards Edinburgh and the coast.

We ended up driving through Edinburgh around the back streets avoiding traffic where you come across some fantastic buildings.

Fantastic bay windows and you would not know you were 1800 Edinburgh except for the security cameras!!!!!

Lots of the buildings have turrets and some of which are actual, if not tiny, rooms beneath the turret!

A wonderful selection of old buildings which lead to Edinburgh Castle except for the modern carbuncle to the right in the picture which looks like a car showroom!  Whichever planning authority allowed that needs their heads examining!!!!

Driving down the main road in Edinburgh the view is dominated by the Scott Monument dedicated to Sir Walter Scott.  You can see how grey the day was.

We also had to go to Glasgow and stayed there overnight before returning to Edinburgh.  This is the view from our hotel room and the huge crane is a permanent monument to the great shipbuilding on the Clyde River.

The Armadillo which is an event space.

One of many old buildings in Glasgow probably once connected to the ship building industry.

Several little towns have very ornate towers for their council offices.

Travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh with a small break in the clouds.

It was a good two days for business and nice to be in the area again.  Just a shame that we were not able to carry on further North to where we holiday!!!  Ah well we will be doing that soon!!!!

Still trying to get things organised at home and tidying up areas which have not been done in a while prior to us starting the Spring Cleaning!!!  We have decided to get a skip over the Easter period so that we can get rid of rubbish which will be easier than keep going to the local tip.  We also have boxes ready for donations to charity shops and things to re-purpose and of course things to go back into the attic which will be all clean and tidy when we do.  Well that’s the plan!!!!!  I will let you know how we progress!!!  Quite a few friends have asked us why we are bothering and most times attics get sorted when you move house but we have not done that for a number of years so it is a good time to get it done.

As these Primulas are very prolific and spread easily we moved some from here to another part of our garden and as you can see they have come out.  But also some have come out as pink!  Now I know that Hydrangeas can change colour because of the soil but I didn’t think Primulas could do this!!!!  They look pretty whatever they are!!!!!

I hope you are all having a Happy Tuesday.

Mother’s Day 2019.

I had a great day yesterday with our Boys and DH for Mother’s Day.  Eldest and Fiance had arranged for us to go for breakfast in Nottingham first thing and we had a lovely few hours together.  We got back to find Youngest was up and about and going out but he got back in the evening for dinner with me.

I know this may seem an unusal present from Youngest but I did need a new microwave for our kitchen and he bought out of his wages!

Eldest and Fiance bought me my favourite bath and body set from The White Company. Treacle also bought me my other favourite bath and body set as well.

The best bit of course was spending time with all of them.

We put the clocks forward on Saturday night/Sunday morning, grr, and I am slowly recovering.  A note from my Snoopy Calendar says that: “Monday after the clocks go forward is “Napping Day” so you can make up for the hour you lost with the time change!” As if we need any excuse to have a nap!!!  I might try it or at least go to bed earlier than normal!!!

The last few weeks have been really busy with work and things around our home as well as dealing with the Boys so I have got behind with my blog and also reading the blogs I follow too.  No excuse but I just ran out of time in the day and now losing another hour, it takes a lot to catch up.  However I have now managed to so should be back to blogging every day etc.  Well it’s a plan!!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend and looking forward to a good week.

Hugs, Susie xx

It is sunny today but quite cool so Treacle is on our bed, sunbathing from the sun through our windows which is warm, even if it isn’t outside!!!!!
