Stitch It & Gift It Blog Hop Day 5.

Stitch it and Gift blog hop button large it button

Hello Hoppers and welcome to my Day on the Stitch It & Gift It Blog Hop.  There have been some amazing projects and gifts shown this week and many thanks goes to Carla at Creatin’ in the Sticks for this amazing Hop and all her hard work organising us all.  I actually found the Hop on my good friend, Farm Quilter’s Blog, so many thanks to her too.

These were actually started last year (!) but I did not get around to finishing them!!!  They are for DH and the Boys as mats.  They are all into cars and I just loved this fabric when I found it so had to use it for them.  Really quick “gift” block to make and I did a diamond quilting on it.

I need eight little gifts for some ladies nearer Christmas but could not decide on what to do but found this sweet little stocking pattern so decided that that would work.

I used the pattern to cut them out and used my pinking sheers to save sewing and turning them.

I sewed a ribbon to one corner and attached a little bell to the outside and inside there are some chocolate truffles.

The next projects, I am afraid, are not completed!  I just ran out of time sorry!  However I cannot show all of them to you either as the people they are for also read my blog!!!!  However here is a sneak peak!!!

The Backs.  I am hoping to get them finished over the weeked.

As you can see this one is still on the machine being quilted!!!  I just love the colours.

This is the back.  There are two of these!!!

I just love this time of year and getting things ready for Christmas.  I love spending time with the family and friends but usually end up running ragged trying to get everything done but I try each year to be organised and not get to that point!!! At the moment I am doing okay!!!!

However this is the state of Eldest’s bedroom at the moment, which I am camping in as my sewing room!!! I hate a mess so after finishing my quilting projects the next job will be to tidy this mess!!!!!  I do not work well in a mess!!!!

Susie, I just love those mats for all your boys!!! They are great and the gentlemen in your life will definitely enjoy using them! You did a great job with the stockings!! You had EIGHT to make??? Wow, you do go above and beyond!! And filled with truffles??? Yum!! English toffee and truffles are amazing. English chocolate is better than American chocolate…higher butterfat in the chocolate makes a big difference! Hmmm….what are those quilty things you are hiding??? The quilt you have under the needle is lovely…I can’t wait to see the finished quilt! I’m so glad you did this hop with me…it was a blast!!!

The Christmas package mats for DH your boys are similar to the one you made for us. We just love it and will treasure it always♥ The stockings are such a cute idea and we love the fabrics you chose for your next projects! The Hop has been a blast!

I am like you in that I don’t like working in a mess. I always have to tidy up and am able to to focus when all is in order.

  4. Carla

Those gift mats are perfect for the guys with the car fabrics. Great idea. Your stockings are so quick to make and great for a big group of gifts. Thanks for the inspiration and thank you for joining the Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop. I hope you will join us for more.

Oh little Miss Susie, you have has been one busy bee. Your hive is overflowing with some honey of holiday gifts!

Great gifts ideas. I have some car fabric leftover from my almost 17 year old grandson’s quilt long, long ago. Love the mat idea. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Wendy

Great projects! I think the mat project is on my list in the near future. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing. One question regarding the car mats. Did you use vinyl fabric to make these or did you create your own vinyl fabric. My husband used to work on cars eons ago and I remember grease everywhere. Your quilts are lovely. I too bought some of the beige feature fabric you are using. Nice to see how you are using it. Thanks again for sharing.

Wow! You have certainly been busy! All of your projects are great and will make wonderful gifts! My sewing room looks like yours. Hahaha What is the name of that adorable Santa and train fabric in your sewing room? Super cute! Thanks for sharing!

The mats are cute, as are the stockings. The fabric you are using in your “mystery” project is lovely.

What a busy person you’ve been with all those gifts. I loved the stockings but really enjoyed seeing the SM they are hanging on. What is that – a piece of furniture – quilt holder??? Others find ‘mess’ a way to become enlightened – not me – and it sounds like you neither. I may have a mess while I’m working on a project but when it’s done…I clean up before starting something new – it clears my brain! lol

Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful projects you have finished and are working on–the recipients will be happy!

This is a great collection of Christmas goodies. I really love the simplicity of those stockings. I see a few of them in my life. Thanks

You picked a great friend! She’s one of the loveliest people I know. Thanks for sharing your projects. I really like the mats for your men. That’s a great way to make it Christmasy and still use something they like for the fabric. The stockings are too adorable, and truffles … YUM! The table runners are very nice. I like that the same basic idea got a twist on each one. Is that last photo a real place near you? It looks wonderfully Christmasy, too!
