#TBT today is for my Dad who today would have been 95 had he lived.  Here he is with my Mom on their wedding day when he was 25 and she was 19.

He was the eldest of six, his siblings being Malcolm, Dennis, George, Barbara and Peter and sadly his Mom died not long after having Peter.  Dad took over the running of the home and looking after the others until his father re-married to a woman who hated him.  He left quite quickly after that and joined the RAF and was sent out to India during WWII.  He came home and began work at the RAF base and four years later met by Mom and they were married in 1949.

He and Mom set up home in Nottingham and lived their all their lives. I arrived in 1964 much to their shock as they had been married for fifteen years by then.  We had a lovely home and Dad had moved from working on aircraft to being a buyer for a local firm.  Mom worked as well, which was unusal for those days, at the local health department in the immunisation department for children.

Sadly he died two months after his 55th birthday in July, I was fifteen and really did not know him well and certainly did not get to know him or my Mom as an adult.  I am sure however they would have loved DH and their Grandsons to bits.

Happy Birthday Dad.

Hugs, Susie xx

Happy Birthday to your dad! Almost as old as my dad…definitely the same generation. It is such a blessing to be able to know your parents as adults. I’m glad your boys will have that opportunity with you and DH!!
