Bonfire Night.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Today in the UK is Bonfire Night where we let off lots and lots of fireworks to “Remember, Remember the 5th of November, Gunpowder, Treason & Plot”! Of course now it is just a good excuse to let off the fireworks and eat hot dogs and chips!!!  Which is what our dinner is this evening, after the swimming club AGM!!!!!  No fun for DH and I then!!!

Sorry I was missing in action last week but it became quite frantic with the business and I was busy driving around the countryside making collections and doing deliveries!!  It was a very long week and quite tiring and I also think I caught a chill from our friend’s Retirement Party when we were outside, as by the end of the week I had no energy whatsoever.

As it is DH and I’s 30th Wedding Anniversary this year (next Monday in fact!!!!) we thought we may be able to go away for a two-week holiday but that has not happened because of work etc so we have decided to do what we did at our 20th and go out and do something every Friday and Saturday night in November, so a month-long celebration. We had real fun last time doing this.  So last Saturday we went to Callow Hall in Ashbourne, Derbyshire for dinner, just the two of us (the entrance above).  It was a great evening and the food was lovely.

This was dinner, crab cakes to start and then homemade fish and chips!!! Doesn’t sound exciting but it was delicious and we were both too full to have dessert!!!!  We got home around 9.30pm having had a great time.  We were supposed to go to the cinema on the Friday night but I was not feeling up to it.

We have a busy week again and Wednesday it is late night shopping in Nottingham so I am going over to get a few bits and meet DH for dinner there.  Friday it is the younger swimmers their Championships in the evening and Saturday evening the older swimmers are at the League event about an hour away so DH and I are going.

Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and DH and Youngest are involved in events during the day and they are each hosting an event in the evening as it is 100 years since the end of WWI.  I will be going to Church in the morning but then spending the rest of the day in my sewing room, as well as getting dinner for the workers.

I hope you all have a wonderful week, you lovely lot.

Hugs, Susie xx

I am crossing paws that no one in my neighborhood knows that it’s Bonfire Night in the UK. I don’t like fireworks and I would have to spend the evening on mom’s lap! Happy Anniversary in advance. Your dinners look SuperYummy!

I love fish and chips…your dinners look amazing!!! I hope you are feeling better so you can tackle all the fun stuff you have going on the rest of the year! So glad you will get a sewing day in there while the men are off working. Fire works don’t bother Tara, she just looks around trying to figure out where they are coming from. Now I want to hop a plane and come to the UK for fish and chips – the pubs really know how to make the fish into a whale that is bigger then the plate!!
