December 1st & Winter is Here!

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.”

Edith Sitwell

December 1st and it is snowing on my Blog!!! Yeah.  It was also snowing for real here last night!  I was at swimming club trying to give out the rest of the Advent Calendars before today (!) and it started snowing, we didn’t think it would settle but it started to and over the three hours we were there the snow flakes got bigger and bigger.  DH was busy compering the Long Eaton Christmas light switch on and they had a few snow flurries but nothing like we had. Fortunately by the time we got home it had stopped and this morning it had all gone and fortunately was not as cold as they had predicted.

DH and Youngest left the house at 6.00am and got to work and college okay and yes the roads around Nottingham have been very busy and blocked, all for the Royal visit.  To answer the question a few people asked, no I was not going to see them and in fact would run in the opposite direction.  I don’t like crowds at the best of times and there are hundreds of pictures on the news and local paper which is just fine, especially as there is a news report or picture every hour about them.  It is going to be a long time to May when the wedding is!

Tomorrow we are decorating the house for Christmas so I will show you some pictures next week, I have also given out our first Chrsitmas present to our Mail man who called yesterday with a parcel, I am on a roll.

These pictures were from the last time we had lots of snow in 2010.  Some of the children when they were coming out of swimming were so excited to see snow and we realised that some of them may not have seen lots of snow ever, as they are only six and seven which is a really strange concept!!!

It is going to be a little warmer over the weekend and then drop cold again, of course because Treacle has just had a haircut, it always happens.

Happy December 1st Everyone and have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs, Susie x

The mountains around me have had snow, but none in the valley yet! Since I hope to run home for a quick weekend next week, I’m hoping it holds off! Once all the kids get here for the holidays, I’m hoping for some snow for them…the granddaughters love snow! I would love to make a snowman in the front yard with them. I didn’t think you would go to see the royals…from the pictures it was quite the crush!! Are you surprised that Prince Harry is marrying an American? They certainly are all over in the news…brings back memories of Lady Diana after her engagement and Kate when she was engaged to Prince William. The run-up to May is going to be insane!!! I would love to see the wedding in person but that would require an invitation to stay at the palace so I could avoid the crush, and we know the odds of that happening are about the same as the Sahara Desert being blanketed with 24″ of snow in July!!!
