Not Just A Dog!

Dog : (noun) a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, non-retractile claws, and a barking, howling, or whining voice.

Hmm I don’t think the above description really relates to Treacle!

Amber Valley-20140629-00106

Of course the description doesn’t mention anything how well they can dress!

It doesn’t mention anyting about how clever they are; using a toy so you can see out of the door.

It says nothing about how helpful they can be.

It says nothing about how peaceful they can be.

It says nothing of how athletic they can be; “look at my feet”

Dog: Treacle – Happy, cuddly, clever, sometimes naughty, loyal, loving and all round wondeful furr-kid and we love her from her cold wet nose to her paws!

Have a Wonderful Tuesday.

It’s Friday!

Yes we made it to Friday without too many issues!!!

Today DH, Youngest and I attended the funeral of the Swimming Club’s Honorary Life President Frank Mansey, who passed away a week ago.  He was 91 and still was involved with the life of the swimming club although he was not as mobile but he loved seeing the swimmers and always came to the Presentation Night at Christmas.  It was a lovely service and as they say a good send off to a lovely gentleman.

I had a check up and clean at the dentist this afternoon and then I have a house to try and clean and tidy although it is still in a state of upheaval although Youngest’s new bed has arrived so hopefully we will be able to get him back into his own room and all his stuff and then I can get  Eldest’s room back in order and my sewing things out.  I need to get on with Evalyn’s quilt as it is her birthday at the beginning of October.

Yep this is Treacle today!  Told you she was going into hibernation mode!!  She had her breakfast this morning at 5.30am when DH got up and she came back to bed and slept for another four hours!!!  It has been raining again today and I think the weekend is going to be like this so there goes getting the garden done!!!!

I hope you have a lovely Autumn Weekend.

Hugs, Susie xx

It’s Starting!

Yep I popped into the card store today for some Birthday cards and there were the Christmas cards!!!!  It’s only just September for goodness sake!

However I have also noticed on Pinterest that suddenly there are a lot of pins appearing with Christmas things in them.  Now I know if you are making things for Christmas you need to be getting on with them but things to buy in the shops don’t need to be out this early.  DH and I went to Vienna on our 15th Wedding Anniversary (which is November 12th) and they were only just getting their Christmas things out then.  Here they had been out since the middle of September!!!!

Jayne and I had a lovely lunch at Croots Farm Shop in Duffield which is the next village to where we live.  We got caught up on each other’s news and hearing about her new job which begins at the end of September.  We usually go Christmas shopping together (see the link?!!!!) in November so we will have to arrange it for one of her day’s off.

As it is Thursday I cannot resist a #TBT picture of The Boys on Christmas morning 2007 so ten years ago.  The furry face which can just be seen is our Airedale Kelly, Eldest’s dog.  At this time of year, as the Boys had gone back to school, I would start booking all the things for Christmas like the visit to Santa on the local Steam Train and arranging to get the Christmas Tree and ordering any specific Christmas gifts which you knew would either be difficult to get or would sell out.  So I suppose I am as much at fault as the stores for starting Christmas in September!!!!  I do miss this though especially now as it is quite boring getting their gifts now they are all grown up, either clothes or money!!!

Oh hell I will just admit it I LOVE CHRISTMAS, but I do love all the things which happen in between now and Christmas and during Autumn so I have to make sure I don’t miss those things in the headlong rush to Christmas.

Happy Thursday everyone, it’s almost Friday.

The Wednesday Wag!

I’m in trouble again!  Mom was stroking me last night when she found another lump on my back by my shoulder blades.  When Dad and Youngest got home they helped her investigage it and Dad found that it was infected!!!!!  After a lot of treatment and copious amounts of TCP  it is all nice and clean and healing!!!  Mom thinks that I may have been stung by a bee and it became infected!!!!

I have been wrapped up in my quilt this morning as it is not that warm either!

I was feeling a little better this afternoon.

Can I have a biscuit as I was so good whilst Dad dealt with it please?

The weather is getting cooler here and I have been out in the garden again but Mom has been surpervising me!  It is definitely getting that Autumn feel now and I think I will get into my hibernating mode soon.  I hope we have some snow this year, I really love snow.

I hope you are having a Woofy Wednesday.

Talking TV on Tuesday!

Some shows have returned, some have finished and some came and went before we knew it!

Yes Game of Thrones came and went in the blink of an eye this season as we had less episodes even if some of them were a little longer!  It was a great season especially as I thought it was all going to be about battles and yes there were a few but there was also intrigue!!  Who is going to sit on the Iron Throne at the end of the day?  Will it be the Night King or Bran as a lot of people now think that is who the Night King is or will it be Daenerys or Jon Snow (or Targaryen as we now know his real name) or will Jon and Daenerys sit on the Iron Throne together?  That is my bet and prediction!!  We shall see in eighteen months time!!!

Masterchef Australia is now back on our screens and began a little earlier than its normal time of September.  Usually it starts when the children are back at school but this year it began in August.  This programme has a great format and very different to all the other Masterchef programmes and the presenters, Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston make the show.  If you do ever get chance to watch it, it is great fun and some of the dishes the contestants put up are amazing.

I also notice that a lot of series now have only thirteen episodes which I know lets the actors then do other series and things between rather than doing a series of twenty four but they just don’t seem long enough!  Two of my favourite SyFy ones are

killjoys_heroDark Matter - Season 3

Killjoys and Dark Matter, both having just finished their third seasons.  I love SyFy programmes and these two are similar but then again very different.  I just feel we need more episodes!!!

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - Season 7

A girl just has to watch some trashy TV once in a while and I watch Housewives of Beverley Hills.  It is the only Housewives show I do watch and to be honest I cannot believe the money which floats around this lot.  I like all the characters on it except for this season Dorit Kemsley, please decide which accent you really want and stick to it!!!!  You have to watch the show to know what I am talking about!!!!

This is a plug for a new show on BBC 1 which will be out next week and it is called Rellik.  I only mention it because not only is Youngest in it playing a mental teenager (aren’t they all?!!!) but DH managed to get an Extra part in it too!!!  The story is about a killer and the programme starts with his arrest and then works backwards, hence the name Rellik; Killer backwards!  I don’t know what it is going to be like and if it is terrrible I apologise now but we will be watching of course!  Richard Dormer above who is the lead in Rellik is also in Game of Thrones and plays Beric Dondarrion, he of the flaming sword!

This is one show I am going to miss as it finished this year with a reduced Season Six, Grimm!  I do have all the DVDs so will be able to watch again but I did love this show.

And Bones, again reduced Season 12 but I do have all the DVDs.

However they have just started filming Series 11!!!  I don’t care what anyone else says I love it!  They are doing a few more episodes this time, ten instead of six, but come on guys neither David nor Gillian have any other series filming or running at the moment so I am sure you can do at least thirteen?!!!!  But all fans of the X Files really want twenty four!!!!  A lot of fans did not like Series 10 but I thought they handled the return well and some of the lines were so funny (Mulder: I don’t run up stairs anymore!!!)  However it won’t be out until next year 😦

Well that’s about all I have been watching so far and I will let you know when we get to see the episode of Rellik which Youngest is in and it we can spot DH!!!!

I hope you have a Thrilling TV Tuesday.

Hugs, Susie x

PS  My Grandparents had a TV like this!!!!!

Monday came round fast this week!!!

I would also like to say Hello and Welcome to my new Followers!

Well normal service resumes after the vacation with DH away for two days on business and Youngest still on holiday from college.  They go back next week but he has still not heard what days!!!!!  Hopefully he will know by next Monday!

They keep telling us that we are going to have an Indian Summer but so far it is damp and humid and cold at night!!!  I don’t know why I believe the weather men!

Treacle is in that in between stage of loving being outside but very tired!!  I think she is getting ready for her hibernation phase!!!

The entire house smells of paint at the moment while Youngest’s room is drying and all his stuff is still everywhere!!  I will need to clean the house from top to bottom again when we have him back in his own room.  What I want to know is what with all the warehousing there is now that the furniture we have ordered for his room, which is standard, will not be delivered until middle of September?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am meeting Jayne for lunch on Thursday before she goes back to work after the summer.  Her daughter, Emily, is starting Uni on the following Monday, how exciting.  Youngest and Emily have been friends since playschool and before that when their Brothers were best friends from Reception Class!

I have managed to catch up on my work today and tomorrow I have the accounts to do then I will be back on track, which is a relief.  Next weekend we are hoping that the weather stays fine and we can get into the garden and get things tidy and start on the final projects before the weather gets too bad!  Well its a plan.

The new season of Victoria has begun on ITV in the UK and Youngest was in the first episode!!!!  Victoria Sept 2017

He is sitting at the table on the right hand side as you look at it.  He is playing a Clerk to Parliament and it is 54 minutes into the first Episode!!!!!

I hope you are all having a Great Monday.

Hugs, Susie xx

We Are Back!

We are back after our two week vacation and had a great time!  More on that in a while.  However I turned on my computer last Sunday morning and it would not start!  So on Monday morning off I went to the tech support people for it to be repaired and didn’t get it back until Friday!!  However it did mean that all my jobs, washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking did get done just no work!!!!

The WiFi connection was not good while we were away, so I was not able to post anything but here are a few pictures from where we were.

The view from the cottage where we stay and it really is wonderful.  Not a sole in sight except for the sheep!

There two monsters were in dock at Invergordon on the Sunday as we arrived on the Saturday.  If both of them were full there were 7,000 extra people in Inverness that day!!  We were a abit miffed as two days before we arrived the new UK Aircraft Carrier Queen Elizabeth was at Invergordon as part of her sea trials.  We would have loved to see her!

While we were there the two cruise ships left dock and this is one of them turning to get out to sea.

The bay at Invergordon.

This was also in at Invergordon for repairs.

We went out for a trip from Inverness into the bay and as you can see the weather was changing by the minute.  We had a little rain but not enough to stop us from all being on the deck rather than inside.

We got to see a few of the dolphins which call the bay home who were busy fishing whilst we were out.

Kessock Bridge

Heading back in.

The weather was following us in!

We were going into Inverness one morning and came round the corner to be confronted with rather a lot of sheep!  Who were actually heading in the wrong direction!!!  DH put his light on. on top of the truck and started moving forward to get them to go in the opposite direction, the farmer was very grateful!

DH had to go to Aberdeen for business on one day and this was a tower in one of the villages we passed through.  Whoever at the local council thought it was a good idea to put a ruddy great lamp post in front of it wants shooting!

Some more of the hills on our trip.

The cottage where we stay.

The highland cattle were sleeping on this day we passed by.

You can tell that Autumn is not far off as the mornings were quite misty when we got up.

The morning we left to come home.

It was a great relaxing break and we didn’t do that much.  I did get quite a bit of quilting done but not quite finished. I have not been able to get anything done since we got home as the major project is painting Youngest’s room as he is having new furniture, bed etc as part of his 18th Birthday present, which is in December this year!  Friday he and I spent the day clearing his room (which is all now in the dining room!) me having spent all day Thursday cleaning the house from top to bottom.  So Youngest is now sleeping in Eldest’s room (also my sewing room) and there is about a million of his things in there as well!  In fact he could only just fit Treacle and her basket in!  (she had a great time on her holidays by the way)

Saturday the three of us painted his room, which is now all dry and done and are just now waiting for delivery of things and he can go back in and I can get my sewing out and sorted again!!!  I will show you pictures when it is all done, it is white by the way instead of grey!!!!!  Tomorrow I am going to catch up on all the blogs I have missed whilst away.

I cannot believe it is September and we are going into Autumn.  In fact the last few nights here have been actually cold!  The days have been warm still but the nights not so and last night you could see your breath when we went out last thing with Treacle!

Thanks for sticking with this long post!

Hugs, Susie x
