These two pictures were taken in Hatchards, London eleven years ago! The Boys were very good about what they asked for, for Birthdays and Christmas but whenever we were in a bookshop we always bought them books, whatever they wanted. Doing this made them both great readers and like me they are never without a book now.
Hatchards have been Booksellers since 1797 and it is the most wonderful store.
As you can see the Boys were looking at books and Youngest even found a chair so he could sit down and look at all the books! No one disturbed you and in fact you could have stayed and read the whole day.
It brings back wonderful memories.

Brilliant bookstore!!! Love it!!! I always have one (or more) books going and my girls love to read as well!! I always loved parents of my students to read with them, but it didn’t happen too often. I wasn’t always sure they could read English :o) Fabulous pictures bringing back great memories!!!
I would love to visit Hatchards it looks like an amazing bookstore. Great pictures of your boys looking at books. I too always bought books for my kids and my daughter loves to read but my son not so much although he did when he was younger. We have a great bookstore here called Powell’s that sells new and used books. The original store is multi level with rooms and rooms of books and you can easily get confused if you don’t know the layout of the store. I am hoping that we don’t loose it with so many people using e-books now. I can’t imagine not having a good bookstore nearby.
