Preserving!

It is now September and I don’t know where the Summer has gone!  The days are still warm but the evenings are getting chilly!  Gone are the days of eating dinner outside 🙁

DSC04915Of course this time of year I am getting things ready for Christmas already!!!!  I made Strawberry Conserve and Apple & Tomato Chutney which go into the Hampers I make up for the Christmas baskets for our elderly relatives.

They still need their fabric hats on before I put them away until Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas we always stop at Dobbies Garden Centre in Newcastle Upon Tyne on our way home from Scotland and this is what we found them busy putting out!

DSC04923Just got these last week from the Opticians, new prescription so getting used to them!!!!!

Youngest is back at school tomorrow for the start of Year 11 which is the top of the school, then Sixth form!!!  Can’t believe that the six weeks have passed so fast, I will miss having him around all day and so will Treacle. In fact she will be wondering around home tomorrow waiting for him to get home from school!

I hope your Tuesday is going well.

Hugs, Susie x

You are so smart to get ready for Christmas now!! I feel like I am chasing myself with everything going on in September and the first weekend of October…none of which am I ready for!!! Are you willing to share your recipe for the Strawberry Conserve? I have a bunch of frozen blackberries that I picked last year that I need to get made into jam and I think your conserve would work with them!! Why do you put plastic wrap under the lid? Never seen that! Just think of all the sewing time you will now have now that youngest is back in school – and ugh, you only have 2 more years of him home before he’s off to uni or work! They grow up too darn fast – tell him to slow it down a bit!!!!
