V E Day Remembered 70 Years On!

Friday May 8th 2015 the Country celebrated 70 years of Victory in Europe Day.

The Queen lit the first of 200 Beacons across the Country from Windsor Castle

The Queen looks down after a wreath was laid on her behalf at the grave of the Unknown Warrior with the Dean of Westminster John Hall at the start of a service of thanksgiving to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day

Today was a Service of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey where the Queen laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior

My Dad was in the Air Force during the war but was stationed out in Burma so was still busy with his duties on May 8th 1945, but I am sure they did some celebrating.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Thank You

Voting Day!

It is Voting Day here in the UK and no one knows who is going to succeed as it is too close to call between all the parties.

Speaking of which, it was like this on the school run this morning!!!!!  I think they all got in their cars and began driving before engaging their brains!!!!!!  All I can say is that I am glad I have a four wheel drive vehicle, because if I had been in anything smaller this morning, they would have probably driven over me!!!!!!

Do you ever have days, or weeks even, when the longest conversation you have with your DH is via text?  Well that’s what it has been like here this week!!!!!!  I think I will get to see him on Friday night, if I am lucky!!!!!!

Need to get on now as it is house job day, grocery shopping and ironing all rolled into one, oh joy!!!!!

Have a Thrilling Thursday.

What I would really like to be doing!

The Wednesday Wag!

DSC04532I am indoors today because it is doing this outdoors!

DSC03817I really don’t like the rain!  Mom says it is not just raining, its raining stair rods, but I don’t know what they are!

DSC04530I keep hoping that the rain will stop and I will be able to play outside but no signs of it stopping yet.

DSC04533Mom I just need someone to play with for a while so can you stop your work and play with me?

In a little while Treacle, just get your toys out and play on your own.

DSC04534Okay, I can make a huge mess, then Mom will have to play!!!!!  Now the toy I actually want is right at the bottom of my basket so if I tip it up……..

Hope your day is less woofy wet than mine.

Busy Weekend!

It has been a busy weekend for everyone, including the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge whose new daughter arrived on Saturday morning, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

I have managed to get the top floor of the house Spring Cleaned, including The Boys rooms!!!!!  There were several things festering in there, which haven’t been classified yet by science!!!!!!  I also managed to get the dining room done too!!!!  With lots of help from DH.

Our good friends, Pat & Alan, came round for dinner on Saturday evening and we had a lovely time, especially hearing about their six weeks in South Africa.  A county I have always wanted to visit.  In fact after their holiday they are very keen to go again.

Yesterday was a Bank Holiday here in the UK and the weather was amazingly nice, it usually rains on Bank Holidays!  We also managed to get the grass cut so all in all a very busy weekend.  Treacle spent yesterday outside as it was also warm and has spent all of today in her basket asleep!!!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend.

8a382-every-cloud-have-a-silver-liningAll I can say is thank goodness its Friday!!!!!  After Wednesday this week, Thursday and Today have been, well no words for it!!!!!  I am just glad its Friday and its also a long weekend here in the UK as well!

We have friends coming for dinner tomorrow night and we haven’t seen them since Christmas so it will be great to catch up.  We haven’t seen them, as they spent six weeks in South Africa visiting family and having a vacation so we can’t wait to hear all about it.

I am still trying to stick to my schedule of getting the Spring Cleaning done and some work in the garden if the weather co-operates!!!!!

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Weekend, I am glad to see the back of this week!
