V E Day Remembered 70 Years On!

Friday May 8th 2015 the Country celebrated 70 years of Victory in Europe Day.

The Queen lit the first of 200 Beacons across the Country from Windsor Castle

The Queen looks down after a wreath was laid on her behalf at the grave of the Unknown Warrior with the Dean of Westminster John Hall at the start of a service of thanksgiving to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day

Today was a Service of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey where the Queen laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior

My Dad was in the Air Force during the war but was stationed out in Burma so was still busy with his duties on May 8th 1945, but I am sure they did some celebrating.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them

Thank You
