What A Whirlwind!

It has been an hectic few days here.  The Boys and DH treated me to a day at the spa for my birthday and I had the best time ever.  Because I did not do anything all day except lay around reading my book!!!
They then took me out for a great Chinese meal in the evening, so I was thoroughly spoilt and I loved every minute of it.
Yesterday saw DH and I heading to Ponds Forge in Sheffield to see our swimmer, Molly Renshaw, try and get into the Olympic team for 200m Breaststroke.  Sad to say but unfortunately she did not make the time required which was 2:26.89.  She did the 200m in 2:27.72 so just missed out.  Now although there is a spot left for the Breaststroke event at 200m, the British Swimming Team will not be taking anyone as Molly just missed out this time!

Britain appears to be the only Country which has two qualifying rounds (all the other Countries have one), if we only had one then Molly would have qualified in March.  None of us can see the sense of this and representations have been made to the Swimming Team selectors but I don’t think she will be allowed to go.  However because of her swim yesterday she did get a Gold Medal and is National Champion.
Today DH and I have been in Nottingham getting my Jeep MOT done and seeing one of his Aunts and doing a little bit of shopping!
The weather has been atrocious all day, really since yesterday and although yesterday was the Longest Day the weather is making it feel like November!
We had to be at the swimming pool yesterday by 6.30am for the Heats and the finals were run in the evening, we then went to our Swimming Club meeting last night so did not get home until 10.00pm.  As you can imagine we are both shattered!
Again we had to be up early and at the garage at 8.00am so another early start.  We also have a very busy weekend ahead so I think by Monday I will be asleep in the corner somewhere!
No quilting done, although I did collect my quilt after the show a couple of weeks ago.  I am trying to finish Treacle’s quilt!
Happy Weekend and Quilting.

The Wednesday Wag

Today is a quiet day at home, I have the place to myself!  So can dabble on the computer to my hearts content.  Why you ask?

Well its Mom’s Birthday today, Happy Birthday Mommy!

Dad and The Boys have treated her to a day out at the Spa and she was whisked off there after The Boys had left for school.  She won’t be back until this evening and I am sure she will be having a great day.

Now what can I do????????????

Mom will never know I was on her bed!!!!

I didn’t Mean to Moan!

This would be Youngest if I asked him to sell my patchwork things!!!!!!  Love this Picture!!!
This would be Eldest; In fact I think I have a few actual pictures like this!!!!!
Today was not meant to be a moan as my previous post, but it just made me annoyed that I was missing from the Followers of the blogs I read!  Especially when I don’t understand why it happened!!!!!
I was going to write today about the great fun I have had over the last few days looking around blog land for ideas and tips about creating patchwork things to sellAs you know it is Carnival in our Village soon and in the Village Hall on the main Carnival Day there are craft stalls, where people pay for a table to sell their homemade wares.
Obviously I don’t have anything for this year but am going to spend between now and next year putting things together so that I will be able to have a Table next year.  Obviously because I am so busy on the Day normally I will have to persuade someone else to run it for me!
Now do you think Eldest or Youngest would be the best???????????????????
If you have Boys you will know why I am splitting my sides thinking of either them selling pin cushions, needle cases and anything else I can think of to make patchworky!!!!!!!!!
Anyway I have spent enough time looking round blog land, I had better finish Treacle’s quilt or else she will be moaning again!

Okay, So What is Going On?

The Invisible Woman Movie Poster (27 x 40 Inches - 69cm x 102cm) (1940) Style C -(John Barrymore)(Virginia Bruce)(John Howard)(Charlie Ruggles)(Oscar Homolka)(Margaret Hamilton)
I, like a lot of other bloggers, have a blog list which I read every day.  Now on all those blogs I have put myself down as an openly following this blog person.
Well today I clicked on to one of the blogs I read every day and I didn’t come up as a follower.  SO I put myself down as a follower again and there I appeared.  I checked all of the other blogs I follow and the same thing, I had disappeared from the list?!!!!!!!!
So what is going on?  Anyone know?
So if I am a follower of your blog and I then appear not to be, please don’t think its me, I think it is either Blogger or Google!!!!!!!!
It’s either that or I am becoming invisible!  I think that some times at our house when I am telling the boys off for something,  I know they can hear but I just seem invisible!!!!!
Is there anyone out there……………???????

Confession Time

I have a confession to make!  With regard to my TV Viewing!
Now some of you know, who read my blog, I love Sci Fi.  So Stargate, Star Trek (all of them), Star Wars anything really set in the future or space.    I also loved and still do, The X-Files.
Recently I have been watching a mixture of programmes.  We all love A Town Called Eureka and Warehouse 13, Eldest and I have been watching Alcatraz.  I have been watching Grimm (I really like this new program). Also Sanctuary and all the CSIs’.
Desperate Housewives has just finished and I really liked it.  I loved how many murders were committed by the Wives and they got away with it!
We also love Ice Road Truckers, IRT Deadliest Roads and Pawn Stars. I also love Bones and have read all of Kathy Reichs Books.
However my most favourite at the moment is Hart of Dixie!  I just love the characters, especially Lemon Breeland.  Although a modern day setting, it has all the wonders of old South.  So this has now replaced Desperate Housewives.
What I want to know is that when there is a good programme why do the studio bosses not renew it, just because it doesn’t get fantastic ratings?  They are not renewing Alcatraz but it really was good and Eureka is finishing despite the stories still being good!

Anyway I would love to hear about your favourite programmes.

Happy Monday

Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day DH x
There is nothing like a relaxing Father’s Day for Dad.
Or, as we started the day,  with no power!  No cups of tea, no cooked breakfast!!!!!  To add insult to injury DH had to then unblock the toilet!!!!!  Things got a little better as the power came back on and the toilet issue was not as bad as we thought.
We did have a lovely lunch with The Boys and Girlfriend and I am cooking his favourite dinner tonight too.
So although the day started a little wonky it straightened out just fine.
I hope you are all having a great day.

Friday At Last

Friday this week has been a long time coming!  Do you ever get weeks like that where sometimes they fly by and others seem to drag, endlessly!  Well this week has been like that here.  DH has been at a business exhibition all week at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham about an hour away from where we live by car.  He has been leaving at 6.00am every morning as the traffic is so bad.  However a big gardening show has also been on at the centre and they and he have been coming out at the same time to come home.  So although he has been leaving at 5.30pm he has not been getting home until 8.00pm!!!
I have been doing all the extras with the Boys this week and I have been getting up with DH as well.  I am so afraid of going back to sleep and then not getting up in time to get the Boys off to school I have to get up.  So with early mornings and late nights, I am sooooo tired!
Quilting has been doing okay this week.  Jayne’s table runner was delivered to its new home and Treacle’s quilt is almost done, here is a sneak peak of it.

We have a busy weekend ahead as well but I will try and get Treacle’s quilt completed and then I will be onto Eldest’s quilt.
I hope you have a terrific weekend wherever you are and Happy Quilting

A Tour Round Our Garden

The start of my cottage garden bed.  The white stuff is gravel and shale to stop the slugs and snails!

Our little veg bed with lettuce and tomatoes growing.

Treacle’s lookout spot, she can see quite a bit from the top of the steps!

The top of the garden and our deck

Looking towards the house from the top of the garden

Right at the top of the garden.

The patio and my wisteria over the pond.
DH and I have been getting the garden into shape after its winter hibernation.  Fortunately we have had a few weekends where the weather has been okay to get out and do the jobs.
It is like the cleaning, I hate starting it but when the job is done I am really pleased I did it.  We have had to cut down some of the bushes and tidy quite a few up, but it is better than pulling weeds!
Here are a few pictures of what it looks like now.  We still have some work to do but hopefully over the next few weeks we can finish it.  Then it will just be keeping it like it!!!!!
Happy Thursday and Quilting.  (Treacle’s quilt is now being quilted)

The Wednesday Wag

Here I am with my tennis ball at Christmas.
Close-up of Three Tennis Balls Photographic Print
Heaven for me is new tennis balls ready to play with!
Life here is back to normal, The Boys are back at school so it is just me and Mom during the day.  That’s okay but she spends all day working, I hardly manage to sneak onto the computer!
Mom has been watching the tennis over the last two weeks and this week the grass court season started, now I watch it not to see the tennis players but for the tennis balls.  I love tennis balls, they are my most favourite toy out of all the toys I have.
I get really silly when I have one and will not give it up, until I lose them in the garden.  Dad then finds them all when he is mowing the lawn.  At the last count he found eight!  I was in trouble as they keep buying them and I keep losing them and then they get all mushy in the rain!
It is raining here today so my walk was cut short, Mom didn’t want to get too wet, don’t blame her, as neither did I.
Happy Wednesday!

Birthday Finish

Jayne’s Christmas Table Runner
I couldn’t show this before as it was my friend, Jayne, her birthday yesterday and I made her this table runner, but in Christmas fabric.
Last year I made her the table runner which you can see under my quilts (the one with arms and legs).  Anyway she loved it so much I thought I would make her one for Christmas and got the recipe from the Moda Bakeshop.
I am really pleased how it turned out, the fabric was bought last year and I had not got round to doing anything with it, but it now has a lovely new home at Jayne’s.
Sad face though as Jayne and family have decided to move from the village for various reasons, although they are not going too far but it won’t be the same without them in the village.
Happy Tuesday and quilting.
